After 21 years with my ex, a little peace and quiet in my life sounds nice. Some friends to hang out with would be cool, but freedom to do as you will is a worthy goal too. Hey, I've got my dog, my home theater system, my kegerator and my computer. What more does a guy need?

Okaaaay...I can dig it...you seem to have all the necessary "man toys" to keep you company...but does that keep you warm at night...& are you OK with living the rest of your life like that? I'm not zeroing in on you...this question is for everyone...

My waterbed keeps me warm at night. I also have blankets if I need 'em.

from a guy who once was actively seeking...you can only be messed with and beat down so long before you say enough is enough...its easier not to deal with the rejection.

Sure,it would be nice to have someone to snuggle up with at night, especially if she would make my breakfast on her way out the door in the morning.

I love it. If it gets really cold out at night, I can always just crank the bed up to Cremate, and I'm all good.

I just miss my bed....being alone is not a natural thing, and I am not yet resigned to that end. I am hopeful, but the way my life has led me in the last few months is frustrating....I can hardly take care of myself, and I will not comprimise taking a woman down that trail with me. It would not be fair to either one of us. So until life is more focussed and running better, I have to travel the path of least resistance, no mater how sad it is.......Damn, I just made myself...sad:cry:

Hopefully this won't morph into another "cynic" thread, buuuut...after reading about a ba-zillion posts about dating & relationships...LDR's & booty calls...blah, blah, blah...it seems to me that men are more apt to resign themselves to living their lives alone...(& I'm not talking about the guys who are actively searching for a mate...no need to try to defend your gender...puh-eeeeeeze!)

Why is that, I wonder?

Actually statistics prove the opposite. Maybe the men on here are skeptical, but the percentages in real life say a guy is MUCH LESS willing to be alone than a woman .. especially after a divorce. They can't deal with doing all for themselves and just need the companionship.

Interesting eh?

I am resigned to the fact that I will no longer spend too much time and effort t-u-r-d polishing any of the women I date any more. No more overlooking or excusing red flags and crazy behavior. This has limited my pool of potential partners, which is good since for a while I lowered my standards and is not worth that misery.

Wow...

are you taking me literally now.

I used it as an expression Lex, meaning someone who rocks your world...

in more ways than just one...

its a sex, and love thing, babe.

I just meant, once you have your world rocked proper...

love...

sex...

the whole package...

being alone just dont seem to cut it the same way!

Ya know?

Oh yeah, I know -- I wasn't trying to pick on you -- just trying to make a point -- maybe I've never had my world rocked proper, I wouldn't know -- all I have to base my thoughts on are the experiences I've experienced --

And the things I've experienced, no matter how world-rocking they were at the time, turned out to be pretty meaningless overall, in the end --

I guess there ought to be more than that, maybe....?

I don't like being alone -- but I prefer it to being with the people I've been with up till now....

Gotta agree with this, totally....

the hunts and the chases are really fun but when you start coming home at the end of the day with no kills then you start to look into becoming a vegetarian!

That's a cool one! On the money.

chance of meeting someone that your compatible with on this or any other site? like the guys say.. rejection drives them to be alone....BUT some of us continue to try and maybe just maybe we will meet that one.. and btw MOST single men I know of do just fine coping for themselves we are a very independent bunch... of course the ones who move back to Mom's is a different storyshocked shocked shocked tongue2
