Currently probably U2 even though I do not like what I've heard from their new disc. All time is tougher. It's between the Who, The Kinks, and Led Zeppelin. I've seen them all. The Who were easily the best of the three live.

Alice In Chains (RIP Layne Staley)
Actually I have a long list of "favorites". I like different bands for different reasons. Songwriting, melody, harmony, musicianship, etc. No one band covers every aspect. Down. Good old sludgy southern blues metal. Lots of soul. Crowbar. Swamp metal. Slow and excruciating or hard and groovy. Meshuggah. Jesus these dudes can wrap technical riffs around your head that make you headbang like you have cerebral palsy. The drummer holds chaos together as naturally as breathing. I didn't realize how much geometry could play into musical composition. Faktion. My bros. But I love their music because it makes me feel like a little kid again. Old school rock n' roll. Faith No More. Mike Patton is a monster vocalist. Variety of styles from metal to hip-hop to do-wop. I could go on and on. |
