Topic: Does our brain control and create all of who we are? | |

Memories are "life"? K If I ask you to describe your life, how do you do it? Memories? Experiences, which are memories, emotions felt, which are memories, etc... How can you tell me about your life without memories of how your life was or is? Mostly - yes, I agree. I don't think the majority has been trained or made aware to do it in any other way. I suppose if I had no memories and only "now", which instantly become a memory - things get really simple. Something like - here I am. And then it would be like having to retrain yourself everyday. Or, one would have to be able to absorb how to do things lightening fast because they'd only lose that memory later. Like a constant learning and creating all the time. I suppose that's what my life would be like. I don't even know if I could explain all that if I didn't remember. I'd exist, but I wouldn't know as what or who. Interesting :). K When we make an action, most of them are from memory, we walk from memory, as I type this it is from memory. As I type each one of these letters, once I lay the type on the computer it becomes memory and the action is based from the memory of letters and typing and grammar and personal experiences to put the words down. So yes I agree with what you stated. |

You can believe we are more then what is here and now, but it gets us no where closer to understanding what is here and now. If you brain is destroyed, then so is everything you relate to and call yourself. Nuff said, How would you know that? First, you can only know that of another person by observing that he does not relate to you or this world. But, not being in his shoes, you cannot know if he still exists in another world. I do not identify "myself" as my body or my brain. Do you? The reason is because I have experienced awareness outside of my body and brain. Of course you will probably call that a delusion. I understand what you are saying but the etheral, spiritual, whatever you want to refer to the other part of us that is not physical, is tied to the physical body here as long as it exists and without the brain there would be no out of body experiences because there would be no memory of it to refer to, to recount, to analyze, etc.... |

no the heart counts to But isn't there something in the brain that is connected to the heart? That our sorrows, joys, etc., are spiked off by something in the brain which then effect our heart? K I BELIEVE ALL FEELINGS COME FROM UR BRAIN LIKE I SAID UR BODY IS A MACHINE AND THE HEART IS JUST THE FUEL PUMP |

in a way life is "all in our heads", but somehow, all that's outside also counts, also leaves a mark, and in a way shapes our lives. there are numerous cases of people with what you described as "pieces cut out of the brain" that after a period of adaptation, react to stimulus from the outside world, which in a way is something that helps them "reconnect". so probably a mix, but our brain is definitely the mainframe :) |

BUT THAT ONLY HAPPENS WITH YOUNGER PEOPLE WHO STILL HAVE A BRAIN THAT CAN RETRACE THE CONNECTIONS IN YOUR HEAD THE OUTSIDE ITS JUDT STIMULUS

from what i see the media and society sets the rules, standards, and actions of most people MOB RULES THE MIND Well, maybe, if you sit and watch all that stuff. But I suppose to get along one has to have some sort of "cultural" savvy. I meant "control" as in function, not domination and World Gov. :). K where do you think culture comes from? not from the book of manners or the club house tea sessions. |

I have to disagree, culture does not come from tv. Tv and media is a reflection of culture through the mirror of art.

does the hand give to the mouth, or does the mouth take from the hand???
are not all things both, a continuing cycle of both hand and mouth, which then SHARE the burden, equally, and to look at just the hand make for evil proposals of the hand, or to look at just the mouth, make for evil proposals of the mouth??? |

Well I certainly agree with that. The brain is certainly here for a reason and purpose, and that is to operate in this third dimensional physical world... yes we need a brain. But I am not my brain. Neither am I my body. I generate these manifestations from my center at this place, the event horizon.... EXISTENCE. An excellent example is a dream. When I dream, I manifest a body and I manifest an entire dream environment that appears to have space and time and objects in it. These things are thought forms. It is the same with this reality. All that you see are manifested thought forms. JB |

I feel this is a narrow veiw... almost an egoic veiw... if this 'I' that I perceive myself to be, doesn't exist in the parameters I veiw through (ie, human body, organic organs) it is not possible for 'I' to exist. How do you know this for certain, how do you know the consciousness streamed THROUGH you in this physical form ceases to exist?.... look at near death experiences and returned from death experiences... the accounts.... the ONLY thing that didn't leave was the consciousness that was streamed, even after the physical body ceased to 'exist'. |
