I started coloring my hair about the age of 16, my older sister got out the peroxcide one summer day while we were sun tanning, on the patio.
I was blond as a child, about the age of 11 my hair color turn to light/medium brown.
Back in the late 60's going blond was real popular, thanks to Clairol and Cybill Shepherd.
I kept it "lightened" for many years, now that my color is changing, again, I have decided to go "natural"...its a bit "mixed" yet, that mousey brown and grey, and "damn its hard going "natch"! BUT...I'm feeling it...going with it...I hope I have that "silver" color, like Paula Deen or Emmylou Harris, their hair looks great, but getting there isn't easy.
grumble

Yrs after my hair had gone white, I was concerned that it looked "dingy." Talked to the lady that cut my hair; for over 23 years now; & she reccommended something called "Simply Silver".
Makes my hair pick up a little shine. But, she warned, use it to often & it will cause a "blue" tinge. I use it ONCE a month.   blushing tongue2

I've been blessed/cursed with gray hair from my teens and have been loyal to Clairol  but have begun thinking the same thing - about going natural but haven't won the fight yet.

I am approximately 65%/35

Go for it Martha good idea Sage. I like natural. Do not like men to dye there hair that are older and make it to dark.

I have had some gray hair since 6th grade.
My granddad had the coolest white/silver hair, wavy & glistened.
Wish mine was like that, got a slight wave, but not the great silver color.

I like men with great silver or white hair at any age...
Now Paula Dean looks great, but then she cooks, has wonderful sons, and oozes bubbliness....Mrs. George Bush (original) looked far older with white hair...guess part of it is personality, skin tones, etc., as to how you can carry it. My late Grandmother colored her hair until she had to go to the nursing home and she looked great...my dad wouldn't let my mom color hers and it put few more years on her...mixture grey-white...
I say fight, fight, fight...colorization worked well for Ted Turner and his movies....biggrin
