I know a bit about it. Such as greasers, and it being a combination of Hill Billy and rock music. But I wanna know more about some of the original bands. The only one I know of is Link Wray currently.

The kings of psychobilly- The meteors

They are the original with the psychobilly. Some could argue it was the cramps. Some could even say it was Johnny Cash.

Whatever. I like em both. I like Johnny too, although he isn't psychobilly.

I've been into psychobilly for a long time. Went to Germany and Holland in 2003 to see some music. I had such a great time.

That's awesome!

I went on a solo backpacking Eurotrip in 2007. Germany, Czech Republic, France, Belgium, and Holland. I didnt get to see any shows though. I just went for the culture experience and sightseeing. Europe is such an amazing place, with great people.

happy

Yep I love the European culture. I wanted to move to Germany for a long time. Still thinkin about it. I would love to go back some day, when my son is a bit older so he can experiance it for himself. I went alone also, couch hopped with folks I met on the message board of the above link.

BTW, there is always some sort of rockabilly or psychobilly gig going on in Europe. It's cheap to travel around there too.

Reverend Horton Heat is said to be the king of psychobilly.

Sorry but that information just isn't true. The rev is a joke to most of the psychobilly world. I do agree that Brian Setzer is good, but I've seen better.

The cramps, Wall of VooDoo, Stray Cats, etc all came after the initial wave of Rockabilly which was birthed from a revivial that came about in the mid 70's. A man named Ron Weiser, located in Van Nuys started Rollin' Rock records and started promoting a band called Ray Campi and the Rockabilly Rebels. At that time the Stray Cats were just starting out, the Cramps,Oingo Boingo, Wall of Voodos, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and several other bands started getting play. Link Wray was thrown into "come back" mode along with Jerry McGee, kick ass guitar player.

You might want to go to the Rockabilly Hall of Fame Site. You'll learn a lot there.
