Was wondering if anyone had any egg shaped labtec speakers. I had a friend send some to me and i cant get them to work for the life of me. But my headset works. just wondering if labtec speakers need drivers or not. Shed some light on me if you can thanks.

Hmmm, maybe go to sounds and audio devices properties and look under the audio tab to see if its set for you speakers?

Powered? -> check power and switch.

Otherwise, plug headphones instead, in the same output (green).
Hear anything?

No -> audio properties, make sure nothing is muted, volumes are up.

Yes - > bad speakers.

Speakers should not require drivers, as they are a separate device.

Speakers themselves do not usually need drivers the souncard does. First do they need a power source if they do is the light on, if your headphones work but not the speakers try to see if they work on another system, if they still don't play then they are damage, check the connection and wires for damage if all seem good then the garbage is the best place for them.

You should also check the connectors. Some newer speakers have ditched the ubiquitous 1/8" input jacks for either RCA-type or even optical connections.

You might wanna make sure your soundcard control panel doesn't have any inputs disabled via software.

This may seem bonehead but check to see that the volume is enabled for your speakers and also if you are using a sound card that it is set for the appropriate setting like 5.1 if that is the flavor of speakers you are using.
I am not sure if it the same for your system but I am using Logitech z630s 5.1 speakers and they use three connectors to the computer and my sound card supports 5.1. That also could be an issue. There is a connector to allow 5.1 to operate out of stereo speaker connections but you have to have it to use it.
Check your volume settings first to make sure your speakers are enabled. Speakers do not need drivers of any kind!

The orange black and green stereo connectors on the back of the MOBO are your speaker connectors. The GREEN one is your primary stereo speaker connection. I think Black is Subwoofer and Orange is rear speakers. I might have that backwards on Black and Orange.

Also check to see if you have the drivers loaded for your on Board Audio installed!!!!!

The drivers should be on the disk that came with the Mother board.

I checked and your MOBO does support 5.1 speakers!

YEaH that was a good Mobo in its day. The Realteck 97 audio chip was/is still decent.
Yeah speakers shouldnt make that much of a diff, I mean they should work without much problem.
Good luck hehe.
