You know how it so often works, though -- "Honesty is the best fallacy."

Right up there with the dudes who say they are 5'10", and then I look down on them once we meet.

Over the limit? Over the rainbow? Beware the F.G.O.P.! I am few pounds over but below obese or even portly, perhaps husky? Ha remember as kids they had husky as a pants size. I thin it means that it won't prevent you from spending the time to get to know a unique and wonderful person.

Oh I'll have to look for excessive honesty threads with you in it. Sounds like room for humor there. Your photos suggest healthy. It's a good thing. Mine should suggest healthy, with a dash or 3 of insanity, also a good thing. laugh laugh laugh

Exactly. Of the 9 people I've met from dating sites, 8 of them grossly misrepresented themselves. It makes you wonder what the point was....

That phrase is similar to:

"I been knowing him for a minute"

"She be lightweight mad at me"

In other words, it means whatever they person wants it to mean, and it is wickedly subjective.

Average, for a woman, tends to range between size 10 and size 16. FYI....
is it really? man have I been decieved.. I thought average meant that based on your height your weight should be with in a certain range. One thats healthy for you.. not your pants / dress size? and the term " a few lbs over" is strecthed way out of porpotion by everyone.. Look around. People tend to say average because they see the same size person all around them... Clinically by doctors and the health profession they say 20 lbs is considered overweight and 20- 100 lbs is obese anything after that is "clinically obese" so you have to judge for your self whats a few lbs over.

The average size of a woman is 14 in the USA. Clothing sizes are proportional, really, which is why I made the range from 10-16. A 5'2 woman who wears a size 10 could be quite comparable to a 5'9 woman who wears a 16.

Makes more sense?

see thats the problem In the USA , which we all now know the american public is overweight. 60 something percent of them.. so when you say a 5'2" woman should wear a size 10? no thanks she is "probably" more then a few lbs over.. I can't go by those standards you stated. go to web md and look up the charts and BMI for someone height and see what you find?

Experience has shown that most people ( not all) do lie on their profiles about everything from age / weight/ height/.. thats why web cams work so well.

and btw.. I do real;ize that sizes change from one manufacturer to the next.. a size ten in one line of clothes may be a size 8 in another ... so you can't atctually use "size" of clothing as a factor thats acurate..... and yes lillith your average in size. you do tell the truth...

Stop putting words in my mouth. You are assuming and it is ridiculous.

The national average size of a woman is 14. I never said I think it should be anything. If a woman is average according to the national standard of the word average, well, that is simply that. I never stated one way of the other what I think it shoud be, nor was this thread intended to discuss the obesity problem in America.

You don't have to go by the standards this country uses. But what you should do is stop being so egocentric in reading my posts. I never said what I thought, only explained the average and how it variance can deviate due to height. I never said a 5'2 woman should wear a size 10. In fact, I never said anyone should be a size anything. There are just as many arguments against the vaildity of the BMI as there are against the national averages.

You are so far off topic....

and your not you atated something I replied in difference to your post.. " few lbs over" means just that people will say that because they may be embarrassed by their weight.. and by what standards does that actually mean? Thats why this discussion went there.. simple open disscussion...nothing more.. egocentric... wow now your a counslor of some type too? damn one talented lady..... resorting to labels? personally I really do not care if you like my posts or even read them.. its an open forum, plain and simple...

Using words does not a counselor make. The size of one's vocabulary does not define their profession. See what I mean about assuming?

Egocentric: Viewed or perceived from one's own mind as a center

Essentially, it means you read my posts in relation to your own opinion and internalized them as such, rather than taking them within the context in which they were intended. Simple as that.

I have no idea what those sizes mean, other than they're always even sizes, so I'll just assume an OCD women designed size criteria such that no woman be perceived as odd in any way. Real quickly one learns never to guess her size, because either way you're in trouble. laugh laugh laugh laugh Just say, "no dear, that doesn't make you look fat", and take her to the store and say, "Yes, dear, that looks nice on you". In terms of taste in women's clothing, I have none, so it works best that way. Shoes, however, I'm much more critical of. "You know, I really like how those high heels make your butt wag, but they can't be good for your feet!" At this point, I know my profession and male instincts are in direct conflict.
