assume the best, but prepare for the worst in people? Or do you take a more cynical approach?

I give the benefit of the doubt until they F%%k up and prove otherwise!!

I take people at face value and on my gut feeling. Then take it from there.

I've always been blessed (or cursed, depending on how you look at it) with the innate ability to peg people within the first five minutes of talking to them. Better than 95% of the time, I'm right on.

As long as you realize...that in any given situation...at any given moment...this is as good as it gets...you'll never be disappointed...

assume the best, but prepare for the worst in people? Or do you take a more cynical approach? I assume the worst, and prepare for the worster. I'm rarely surprised. |

A lot of times I find I'm old enough to know better, and should listen to the red flags I see before me...yet I'm still young enough to think I can fix whatever is broken.

I have this 8-Ball. And you ask it questions and it gives you an answer. Usually works pretty well.
Another good indicator is one of my dogs. If she sniffs your crotch and wags her tail you're good people. If on the other hand, she p!sses on your leg...we may have issues. |

I'm curious Lex, do you consider yourself a realist or a cynic? At this point, I think they're synonymous! Seriously -- a realist on most things, definitely a cynic when it comes to people. |

It usually takes me a while to realize that some people are jerks....I'm kinda slow

I know I shouldn't, but I trust people until they start slipping in their answers when we talk....the little details that get twisted around or forgotten altogether. I should start out with 50% and then have them work their way up, but I just don't want to be that way all the time.

If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed.

i am very cynical when it comes to online personalities. there have only been a select few who have impressed me right off the bat and who i still think of very highly.
i try to keep an open mind as i'm not always correct (since i think everyone is a fake and a liar the chances are pretty good i won't be batting a thousand). however, come real life, i give just about everyone the benefit of the doubt and think they are good people until i've been proven otherwise. they may get a second chance but nothing after that. |
