If you expect nothing from somebody you are never disappointed. True. Is it possible the cynicism causes a self-fulfilling prophecy? In other words, could a more positive approach strike a different chord in people? |

In other words, could a more positive approach strike a different chord in people? Been there, done that, no go. All that does is give them the impression that they've fooled you from Day One. Cynicism (of people), in my experienced, is a conditioned response. It doesn't start out that way -- but you learn, after dozens (hundreds?) of bad experiences, that there is a value to protecting yourself.... |

I would not like to live always expecting the worst from everyone that I came across. That would make life so very depressing.

assume the best, but prepare for the worst in people? Or do you take a more cynical approach? I don't think I do either,I usually take people for where they are at not where I want them to be. I don't really worry about it. Since nothing ventured nothing gained. |

I don't assume anything about anyone.
And definitely don't expect anything from them. People will eventually show their true form. |
