To be "mysterious" is simple. All you need to do is have ulterior motives, never explain yourself, let other people think what they will. Don't give your opinion in a long winded manner, be succinct and to the point, but a bit ambiguous. And finally, wear a trenchcoat and dark glasses. Carry a notebook and write in it (or pretend to), and pay special attention to things that don't matter.

Arrive places where you aren't invited and leave suddenly with no warning or explanation. If nothing else you're gone before the police arrive.
