Topic: How to get help from a computer forum. | |
---|---|
Hi,
Looking through the first couple of pages of the Computers & Technology forum, I see several posts titled as such: PLEASE HELP!!! someone PLEASE make my computer run faster when is.. Does.. ok I need a computer nerd or Computer Question yeyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy help needed ahhhh!!!! HELP do i need to dowload something? Pulling my hair out Not Good. Please, please, please. Use a descriptive subject for your post. At the very least list what OS you're using and a very short description of the problem. If you do so, you will find it much more likely that you will receive the help you require. Thanks, Chris. |

I agree, it is difficult to sort through the post with generic titling. Still, the challenge to help those who need it is welcomed.
Something simple would work such as; BIOS problem, OS Problem, Hardware...etc. Give those of us who canoffer the help, an idea what help is asked for. |

I agree. If you have a problem, ask! But don't panic... This puts most techs off and more or less they may delay answering your question because they don't know what your reaction will be.
2 years a slaved at a tech desk. Beleve me...the last thing I want to hear is HEEEELLPP! |

true, but, some of the ppl who need help really have no idea what is wrong, and do not know anything but windows is what is on their computer. I know, just ask some of them what os they have and they say windows...no idea what version, just the one that came on the computer when they bought it. Some do know a bit about it though.

When you go see a doctor because this hurts that's all you know unless you have some knowledge or experience about it.
The same goes for computers if everybody knew what they were talking about a lot would be unhappy for the loss of work. Just be patient with the people that know nothing about it and be happy that people come to you for help. |

At least a simple description of the problem in the subject is more useful that writing "help". And.. if someone doesn't notice that their computer says "Starting Windows XP" when it's booting up, then I fear there might be no helping them! Ta, Chris. |

We all have started at one point, and some people just don't have the right words.
And "help!!!!!!!!" usually gets someone to help fast. |
