A new day a new offense!

Like I said yesterday...

So, I think they ought to ban horses from the inaguraul parade because after all...many people have been thrown from horses and seeing horses might remind massive numbers of people of bad experiences on horses.

They need to ban black coats, hats, gloves and boots...just think of all the bad guys that have worn those items over the years. Seeing them will surely remind many of bad experiences and bad guys and will surely lead to trauma for them.

Bad fashion? The dresses these ladies wear bring to mind (for me anyway) just how tough these ladies and the original wearers of corsets, petticoats and hoops skirts must have been. I have and occasionally wear a corset. It's great for your back but in hot weather? Forget it! No wonder corseted southern ladies in that oppressive heat got "the vapors" haha

But...back to the topic...is this stupid? Aren't there more pressing issues to explore in race relations in the United States? Is this guy just trying to get his fifteen minutes of fame? Link at the bottom to see picture and video of the dresses in question.

Alabama NAACP criticizes use of Trail Maids in Inaugural Parade

NAACP cries fowl over Trail Maids

Montgomery, Ala. (WSFA) -- They're part of a long standing tradition that will soon become a part of Presidential history.

The head of the Alabama NAACP, however, wants Mobile's Azalea Trail Maids to stay home on Inauguration Day, claiming the group reminds him of slavery.

"These are not just regular costumes. These are the costumes that remind someone of the plantation in Gone with the Wind," Edward Vaughn said in a phone interview.

Vaughn went on to say the group would be the laughing stock of the Inauguration. County leaders say nothing could be further from the truth.

"We want everyone to know that these young ladies do not need to be identified with slavery," said Mobile County Commissioner Stephen Nodine.

"I don't see what the dresses have to do with racism. I don't see it. It's just a regular dress to me. Just a dress they wore back in the day," said Carolyn Tius of Montgomery.

Organizers stand behind the tradition, but opponents say tradition is the problem.

"We needed something that could show Alabama's great progress rather than something that shows a shameful past," Vaughn said.

Saying there will be 4 years of PC BS is interesting.

We've just come from eight years of being told to disagree with the administration is un-American, of an administration who would not allow the American public to see our returning dead, or an administration who squelched the speech of health care professionals in not allowing them to discuss legal options with their patients, of government constructed and fenced off demonstration areas,...shall I go on?

These last eight years free speech along with open and political thought and expression haven't exactly been championed you know?

So police shouldn't use handcuffs either? Reminiscent of slave shackles.

There should be no auctions of any kind? Slaves were auctioned.

Get rid of the whips/crops in horse racing.

Nobody should have a shed in back of the house either since that's where slaves slept.

The very idea of a dress being a reminder of slavery is so stupid as to be laughable.

Nothing screams slavery like wearing a frickin dress.... Is there anything they don't find offensive? The NAACP has become a huge part of the problem. All they do is push forth stereotypes and racism. I think this organization has long outlived its relative purpose.
