Study shows Texas ranks last in graduation rates
Newsroom

A new survey released by the nonprofit group Texans Care for Children shows that one out of every three Texas students may not make their way across the graduation stage to receive their diploma.

The survey reveals that Texas is ranked last in high school graduation rates and also found that more children in Texas had to retake kindergarten.

Advocates working for improvement for children across the state encourage parents and concerned citizens to voice their opinions to legislators in order to make positive change happen in the classroom.

It used to be Success By 6. I don't know if they still do that, my kids are now 16. More testing is not necessarily the answer, in my opinion. And definitely not more medication for kids!

Great points Wallace.

Teach to the test..reasoning goes out the window. Kids learn the expected answer but not how to arrive at it.

Creative thinking? Forget about it.

Music, Art and Physical Education classes? Gone...oh and before someone excuses those things as fluff numerous studies show that a creative mind and a healthy body help students think and reason.

How many kids go to school without breakfast?

Medication? I tech'd in a pharmacy for many years. Some teachers had disproportionate numbers of kids on meds. They had a publicly acknowledged propensity for recommending that kids in their classrooms be put on meds. Disgusting in my book.
