i got paid 2.13 plus tips. I made that in New Orleans before and after Katrina. $2.13+tips. Wow. Up here in Seattle, servers make 8.64+tips. I tip well here even though they make way much more money than I was or can afford to give, but I worked service industry two years so I know what it is like living on nothing because people are cheap. |

If I cannot afford to tip, I do not go out. I have waited on tables, and many other service jobs, during my life and those people are run through the hell mill on a daily basis. 20% minimum. Most times more.

My ex wife had worked in the food service industry, so I always make it a point to tip around 20 to 25 %.

tipping has become an art form... personally I tip according to the service and beleive me when I say I left a penny it was what was deserved.. ( clue here ...your service really sucked)... but on the positive side I over tip most of the time usually 25% of the total bill. and then something for forgotten bus boy/girl who cleans the table off.

If the service is good, sure. Though, it really depends on the service. If my waiter disappears and we have to hunt them down, they're not getting a good tip.
