"How Are You Today"

Surrounded by family and friends
those that love you, don't really understand
What goes on in your mind
and they'd rather not even ask
Just nod so graciously
and go on with their life...

What ever happened to sincerity
when asking "How are you today"
They ask so nonchalantly
and smile ever so pleasantly...
Can't they see the misery in my eyes
and the tears that glisten behind
shadows lurking,wanting to talk it out...

and when you begin to speak, you see their interest die
cause the answer they wanted, was fine and you...
and instead you said, well, not so great...
and there goes the glaze, as they glance at their watch...
You realize with pain, this "friend" has no time for you...

So I go on with my day, the sun shining bright
tears dry unshed, and I smile, and I wait....

How true those words really are.

One day at a time is the only way to get through life sometimes...If you
look too far ahead, it can be overwhelmig at times...believe me, I
know...When my son askes me on Monday if he can do something on
Friday...I can't answer him because there is sooooo much time in
between...LOL! To most, it would be a simple answer...but, my life is
soooo unpredictable!
