Is your weakness that you care too much?

That's actually not a weakness so much as it is an imbalance that needs to be corrected. Caring for yourself is just as important as caring for others.

My New Year's resolution: to get back into balance.

Projecting your own fears onto others. Now there is a real problem I have. With my S/O and other loved ones.

I suffered abandonment at the hands of my parents when I was about 9. Now, I have to be very careful not to suffocate my own children.

Naw...actually my biggest problem is I can't seem to be a self centered A-hole who treats thier women like dirt. If I could manage to do that I would probably have ended up married years ago.

I find myself constantly amazed at the number of women who tell me about the years they spent in unhappy and abusive relationships. I just don't get it.

Some people are codependent or have addictive personalities, yes. However, some of what our society has called "codependency" in the past has just been pure hogwash. Many of the things cited as being "codependent" are things intrinsic to the female nature and how women have been socialized that it is desireable and appropriate to be in our culture and others. Music, the media, popular culture perpetuate this. Yes, it is a matter of degree, but some of the theory is much too inclusive to be totally valid. You'll have to do your own research on the reasons the term fell out of common use or favor years ago. I'm not really up to discussing it here or right now. Difficult day ahead....

In my best understanding of the term,"co-dependency" is when love is unhealthy, as in "I want you because I need you", as opposed to healthy love that proclaims "I need you because I want you"...

It was but now I just don't care

its a big problem for me. even after my ex wife cheated on me 5 times and moved in with another man and left me the kids and realy does not act like she cares about any of us, I still care for her in some ways
