Religions are different roads converging to the same point. What does it matter that we take different road, so long as we reach the same goal. Wherein is the cause for quarrelling?---Gandhi

This is something i have never understood but you see it all the time. People justify murder in the name of god, but and yet with the same tounge, will tell you that life is sacred! Arrrgh, Its time to end this "my way is the only way" junk and see the bigger picture, and make this a world a place we ALL can live in!

"I regard myself as a soldier, though a soldier of peace and we need to be the change we wish to see in the world and make our lives, our message"---Gandhi

It's more honorable than some reasons: like $76.00 or a Honda Accord or a pair of sneakers!

Because people have the need to belong to something. If that what they belong to, is challenged or some has a different opinion, they feel threatened and the the need to protect and defend their beliefs. Because if their beliefs were to be proven wrong...they would look like a fool.

And this goes for all religion, not once specific faith or belief.

RELIGION IS JUST A BIG BUSINESS

To answer the original question, the reason that there is fighting between the different religions, is because each one views itself as the "one true religion" and the holy books stated that you either need to convert those who don't believe in the same "god" or kill them.

God is like the sun

you can't look at the sun without going blind

but you can see a reflection of the sun in any old mud puddle

all religions are mud puddles

You are the one missing the 'bigger' picture or rather you are missing the whole of the little picture or you would know you can not replace it with a bigger one.

First, no one wants to hear they are wrong. Especially if being wrong means you have been hoodwinked or lied to by all the people that mean the most to you. So when people are told they are wrong, they will argue why they are right.

Secondly, you are talking about a group of people who are not concerned about making a world where people can all live together in peace. What they are concerned with is earning eternal life, that is not of this world. To these people life is a transient thing and their only concern is for the eternal.

So, sadly, unless all religions make no demands on a person, except to make this world a better place to live, the war between the self-proclaimed righteous will continue.

What religions are you talking about?

There's really only one religion that does that and it's the religion that arose from self-proclaimed jealous God of Abraham who hates heathens.

No other religion does that.

And yes, that would include Judaism, Islam, Catholicism, and the many sects of the protesting Protestants.

They even hate each other's guts because they disagree on how to worship their jealous God.

But we don't see this kind of arrogance coming from the Eastern Mystics. Nor do we see it coming from many of the pagan religions. Most pagan religions get along with each other quite well. They accept that everyone has a different view of God. They don't believe in a jealous God.

It's the jealousy of the God of Abraham that makes the religions that are based on that jealous God so arrogant.

Who are we kidding?

No other religions that haughty.

It's not religion in general that's the problem. It's only the religion(s) that grew from the notion of a jealous egotistical God that causes all the hostilities.

if there be any god, than it is what each is, without a "holy spirit", that say of some things, "that is holy, and of other things, that is not holy".........
