You and your squad are going on a march in enemy territory, you come
upon a suspected mine field but do nt hav time to call in the
psecialists to find a route through.
You have a lietenant (commander), a staff sergeant (squad leader), a
radio operator, a medic
and a general purpose grunt (doesnt matter the rank, but lets sya buck
sergeant). I am not gonan say which one yhou are.
Who is going to get picked to throw a stick and roipe into the mine
field to find a clear path through first? I am leaving this open to find
out if nayone can answer it corretly, and all military personnel
keep quiet please this is for the civvies...

And for a bonus point what happens if the person chosen refuses to do
it? (Again only forhte civvies fellow vets and soldiers, lol)

I would reach in my backpack, grab my supersized-extra long- telescoping
mop handle that I just bought from walmart. And use that.

lol nice try there old sage  but where is the bottom? or should I
say who is the bottom? :big grin:

And to answer some questions I am sure are being asked, no I did not
write this thread in order to argue, or bring some on ein or naything
like that.

I DID start it in response to another thread, but it is because I want
to try and make sure that some of these younger people that think they
want to go in the military, know some real life hard to face facts that
do NOT get talked about.

The scenario I gave is one that is put to almost every soldier whent hey
are in basic training and/or ait. And with what is going on in the
middle east, and korea and such it is a scenario that has a good chance
of happening.
So before our young adults join the service, I would like to make sure
they know some brutal truths about it first.

i would say that the first person called on would be the lowest ranking
private, and refusing generally isn't an option when you're in the
field, but if you do refuse its insuborination and you are taken by mp's
to await dishonorable discharge hearings. but thats just one civies
guess.

well then in that case they definatley wouldn't send the medic first,
the radio ops guy would definatley be called on before the medic, but i
would have to say that the infantry privates would get first crack at
the mine field.

dan, u mention they dont have time to call in...are they under
fire?..seems to me if they didnt have time to call in, they wouldn't
have time to tie a stick and rope??

Medic & radio needed, rifleman's job to do the dirty, rank no matter.
Just like a sub, son's a medic, his job get out of flooding area & SEAL
door.

no bugundy, but they do have enemy all around them, and do not have time
to try an wait for others to come in. They have sensitive information,
and have to get thruogh as soon as possible without being caught.

ok sage is right about the buck sgt being the first to throw the line.
This is because ewvery soldier is trained to handle a weapon and can use
his weapon if the worst happens.

Ok, the worst happened. NOW who gets picked to throw the line?

I'll bet you can all see where this is going cantcha!!!

And what happens to the buck sergeant if he/she denies the order to go
probing for a mine?
