Topic: Tommy Chong vs. US Government | |

As for the original question, I tell you what it solved, it gave the politicized justice Dept. a target, especially since they weren't charging bin laden with 9/11.

These particular laws seem arbitrary to me, when you consider what the "good ol boys" in white collars get away with.
So? Tommy Chong said neener, neener, neener to the law...Big deal. It's not like he's getting obcenely rich bilking old folks out of their retirements or causing families to lose their homes due to inflated mortgage schemes... jmo |

When the incident happened he was on The Seventies Show! I was listening to him on The John Boy & Billy radio show when they asked him about his lucrative business of manufacturing and selling tobacco pipes. His answer was, let's not be shy they are marijuana pipes. They tried to talk him out of his comment but he wouldnt listen and continued to joke about the law and dare them to arrest him. Well, he got his wish! So you mean if I wish hard enough it will come true I'm still wishing for a pony He should have been treated as the rest, not used as a pawn nor an example jmo got the following info from wiki - While 54 of the 55 individuals charged as a result of the operations were sentenced to fines and home detentions, actor Tommy Chong was sentenced on 11 September 2003 to 9 months in a federal prison, forfeiture of $103,000, and a year of probation. The Federal Prosecution admitted being intentionally harsher on Chong in retaliation, citing Chong's movies as trivializing "law enforcement efforts to combat drug trafficking and use." |

It's funny to see the contrast between Tommy Chong & Cheech Marin now. Cheech has become down-right respectible. Last time I saw him he was kickin' ass on celebrity Jeopardy.

So...I suppose Harold and Kumar have a potentially tough row to hoe Along with everybody else who ever pokes fun at the police state we're trying to live in... |

Those in Pineapple Express are next in line
Break the law, pay the price, but treat those guilty the same. At one time we did have freedom of speech, still do but it is limited now |
