My mom was single mom, so we ate ramen all the time when I was growing up. Sadly, now it has become a comfort food for me.

There are actually some pretty good ramen recipes online that I used to use all the time. Maybe you can try some of those for your roommate when you guys have extra cash.
Lets get this straight, I can afford better food but they can't, I will not eat lobster while they eat balogna, just hurts
how thoughtful of youflowerforyou

yeah right Tina if I came down to see you would you setle for a ramen dinner???

the food wouldn't matter.I make wonderful meals almost daily eating ramen for a day wouldn't be a big deal
So if Captain Caveman came to see you, you'd accept the noodles and have a nice dinner???

I made 7 pounds of cilantro rotini for my freinds on saturday night. Cost me about 10 bucks for all. It cost another 10 for the cheese. But I used the most expensive stuff I could find. Extra aged private stock gryere. Cheap parmesan could have sufficed.

I don't think that has anything to do with ramen noodles

I boiled up a quart of stewed tomatoes in a saucepan. Then I browned 2 pounds of ground limosine hamburger in another pan. And I boiled the noodles in a third big pan. I put a dash of pepper, garlic, lemon, reallemon juice, and a half ounce of fresh ground cilantro in the browning meat. Then I put a tenth of an ounce of cilantro in with my stewed tomatoes. Drain noodles. Add meat. Add stewed tomatoes. Stir. Grind parmesan over mix or any other favorite cheese. Add up to a half pound of cheese. Stir under low heat. Serve. 7 pounds. Will fill about 8 people. And leftovers are delicious. Take an ordinary loaf of bread and make garlic toast to complete meal. Substitute shell noodles for rotini noodles for a change of pace. Mmmmmmmmmm I can't do ramen noodles. Sodium restricted diet.

Hamburger- 4 bucks for 2 pounds. Noodles- 2 bucks a box. Stewed tomatoes- 2 bucks a quart. Fresh cilantro- 2 bucks for an ounce and a half. Everyone has spices in the cupboard. Depending on cheese you use- from 2 bucks to the 10 dollar a pound good stuff- a cheap meal. We used lime budweiser to keep the meat from browning too fast. That added tremendous flavor. And I had all the kids make homemade vanilla ice cream from starter batter- eggs, milk, and sugar in a double boiler. Strain, cool, add cream, vanilla and pour into grandpas ice cream maker. Made a gallon and a half. Put them in pint mason jars for the individual touch. I got to eat the last pint. The bottom of the barrel crud. Having egg yolks in the mix- I got the best crud. It was like tapioca pudding and vanilla ice cream mixed together! Definitely not ramen noodles. And sugar, milk, eggs, vanilla, cream, and a bag of ice? About 15 bucks for a gallon and a half of non preservative ice cream. About what you'd pay in the stores.

Real beef stroganoff is also inexpensive for materials. Again ground hamburger browned. Add minced peppers, pickled onions, pickled artichokes, pepper, worchestire, garlic, cream of tartar, half a can of campbells beef broth soup, half a can of campbells mushroom soup, and a whole container of sour cream into the browned meat. Stir, simmer, and boil up some stroganoff noodles, or linguini noodles. Pour sauce over noodles and enjoy. Inexpensive. Low in sodium. And not ramen noodles.

Tacos in a bag are true emergency relief food. Buy all your taco fixings from the store. Put them out on the table. Then buy individual serving bags of fritos brand corn chips. Tear open one end of the bag and walk down the line and put all the fixings you desire right into the bag! Put your ground browned meat in. Put your shredded lettuce in, your cheese, your sour cream, your taco sauce, your diced onions, your olives, your diced peppers. Then you eat it right out of the bag with a spork! No mess. No dirty dishes. Ez cleanup. Had a tornado come through. Destroyed my lawyers house. She called me. I asked if they needed anything. She said that the whole neighborhood was hungry and to feed us now! Around 150 people. We went all out. Had the browned meats in crockpots hooked to inverters. Fed 150 people tacos in a bag for a hundred and fifty bucks including cold sodas. Had corned beef blessed by a jesuit priest for my freinds of the jewish persuasion. Had beef, and pork. Fed all those people out of the back of my pickup truck. And everyone ate well. The red cross was blown away by our resourcefulness, and speed. Kids love tacos in a bag. Cuz they get to play with their food. Tacos in a bag. That's where its at. And definitely not ramen noodles.
