How do you tell a friend that his/her reaction to a disagreement has ruined your friendship? You tell said friend that his/her reaction to a disagreement had ruined your friendship. Duh... |

Sometimes you don't have to say anything at all. Non-verbal body language can say it all.

How do you tell a friend that his/her reaction to a disagreement has ruined your friendship? Well... if the friendship's been ruined, there'd probably be no reason to tell that "friend" that it's been ruined in the first place, as you're probably not talking to that person. |

I think I may be in this situation. I "hinted" that my friend needed to get a second opinion as I was concerned about her maybe needing some other care, different pain medication, etc., and she "loves" her doc, considers him a family friend, he walks on water, etc. She hasn't talked to me since. I am concerned she is going to kill herself with all the oxycodone she is on, she forgets when she takes it and takes more and then throws up because she is overdosing on it, etc. She is in severe pain, I suggested a pain management doctor, etc. She has basically quit talking to me, we have been friends since we were kids, so guess I "crossed that line." I am really worried that this "doctor" is doing more damage than helping her. Oh well, not much I can do at this point.

True friends always find a way to work it out!!

I wait it out.
Sometimes it takes years, but I've outlasted episodic stupidity too many times for me to be in a hurry to say something. |

Someone's reaction can be very telling, especially if it's a new friendship. Had that happen to me recently too. The reaction and the "talk" after the reaction was enough to make me end it altogether. I'm not into ANY kind of relationship where there's anger or control issues starting because of a discussion. Don't need those kind of friends.
