The Iraqi Government has just announced that Christmas is a National Holiday.
With a widely scattered Christian minority amounting to only 3 Percent of the population.
Does this seem a little strange to anyone but me?

I take it you are one of those who thinks Christianity and all things related should be forced onto people in all corners of the world whatever their religious beliefs currently are.

Ok, yes, I think it is very strange that Christmas would be made a national holiday in a predominantly Muslin country! Where did you read that so I can read more?

cool do i find it strange yes

but maybe the united states should follow their example. and make a muslim celebration a national holiday as well. the alternative being removing christmas as a national holiday. what is iraq more people oriented than the states hhhhmmmmm or is the states holding iraq hostage and forcing its ideas on the iraqi people; if that is the case should they not lead by example.

just a thought

but hey

what do i know

i know another national holiday could be very expensive, but just think it may stimulate the economy. and if they want they could just make one up in may, june or july which would be closer to the birth of christ. (astronomically the position of the star followed to find the christ child made it that time of year) what is another lie there are so many already in place.

does one not remember the knights templers

what about wwII hitler declared christianity as the best religion as well. unlike any muslim leader that cast the world into a war on 4-5 continents.

not to mention the romans

not to mention the crusades

not to mention the popes and those they eliminated

just a thought

but hey

what do i know

I am not familiar with this particular vote by the Iraqi government.

However, I have read a few stories where the Kurds are trying to increase their popularity with Christians in Iraq. Apparently there are a few districts, with many Christians, where the Kurdish candidate needs a few more votes to win.

I suspect this is something similar to US presidential candidates going to Florida to address Cuban issues, even though the Cubans only represent a tiny number of people nationally.

The sooner we purge radical Islam from all these third world countries the safer everyone will be.
