Scoundrel If that seems impolite, then I might post a list here on the churches being burned or otherwise attacked, and say that the attackers "hate for no reason." Now there you go, that would be interesting. I wondered what hate crimes there really are against Christians. I found dozens of bombings but they were all in other countries. I found accusations of hate crime by gays over proposition 8, but I found no reports of actual harm. I searched under at least a dozen different headings, adjusted them to include only the U.S., adjusted for the word Christian, used various key words, but I came up blank. Maybe you'll have better luck finding hate crimes against Christians in America. I think posting them would offer a good balance to the OP. Can you find 1460 of them, you know, to match the 1460 hate crimes against GLBT? Actually that would be a more than fair request, considering that about 76% of the population are Christian, while only 5% of the population are GLBT. But give it a try anyway. News is news, afterall and hate crimes are just news, no different than any other crime, right? what in my post i said nothing about christians |

As I read the original post my stomach churned.
Disgust... Horror... Then I read this crap... How anyone could equate the violent sexual assault of a human being with a building being vandalized is beyond me. There were some churches burned in Mar 2006. Three college students from the prosperous suburbs of Birmingham, Ala. were arrested in the burning of nine Baptist churches. they said they did it as a joke. A local church, here in Michigan where I live, was the subject of a protest. Not even close... People are not going around burning churches with regularity. However, gay people are regularly insulted and assaulted just because they are gay. How anyone could... So much for your Christian love... I am going to go throw up now |

A L L C R I M E, everywhere, all around us, increasing everyday, all over, against anyone. and laws that are not enforced in cases appeals and plea bargains, dragging things out forever in the courts, Lawyers that are almost crooks themselves in some cases. But, Murderers, those who lie in wait, premeditate it, and Rapists should be sent to their creator, asap. The kinsman redeemer, or relative, loved ones of the victim should "pull the switch" "drop the gas" "plunge the plunger" or my favorite, execution by snakebite, shooting and hanging in that order, snake handler, firearm and rope to be provided by state of course

This may be a thread in itself and while I don't want to distract attention from the original post I think it's fair to mention this in reply to the poster who spoke about punishment.
I am not defending the practice of letting violent criminals out of jail but this must be said. We have a real problem. According to a report quoted in an article at http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/story/2008/02/28/ST2008022803016.html "More than one in 100 adults in the United States is in jail or prison, an all-time high that is costing state governments nearly $50 billion a year and the federal government $5 billion more" Who pays for prisons? You and I...taxes...you know? It isn't so simple as some might think...the off with their heads policy that is...errors in judgment, in identification, in science, eye witnesses who are more than often wrong...the innocent have been convicted and have died for crimes they did not commit in a rush to punish. While I support the death penalty I do not support hang 'em high justice. The jails are full, people don't want new ones built, not in my back yard, taxes are too high...you know how that goes right? So hold on and don't you blame cops, lawyers and judges until you decide as a citizen just who you want in jail and why and then you fork out to pay for the cells. |
