Topic: okay just one more question?

Sorry guys and gals but I do have just one more question to ponder on. This is a good one for all you Walt Disney buffs. Why is Pluto always the dog on all fours while Goofy is the dog that is always standing upright? I mean come on if your name is Goofy Should you really be standing up anyway.

Well to put my 2 cents in... I don't think they consider Gooofy to be a dog. It has been an age old question???? What exactly is "Goofy"? LOL

I have always believed Goofy was a dog, why he stands...don't know...maybe that's why they named him Goofy

Goofy is a human-dog hybrid; the character is based on an actual experiment the Disney people performed back in the 1930s in an attempt to create a new, more efficient body to house Walt's brain in case his human body gave out. The experiment was a failure, unfortunately (as was the one in which they attempted to make a duck wear pants), but at least they got a new character out of the attempt.

According to Wikipedia: Confusion concerning Goofy and Pluto Disney has needed to deal with a certain amount of confusion concerning the fact that the anthropomorphic Goofy, and dog-like Pluto often appear on screen together, yet are the same species. On their web site it's stated that "Goofy was originally created as Dippy Dawg" and "was created as a human character, as opposed to Pluto, who was a pet, so [Goofy] walked upright and had a speaking voice".
