My son is 21 months old, the past few days he has been taking his diaper off and pulling on his wiener and peeing. I mean he pees as soon as that sucker is off. Is that something a normal little guy his age does?

Hey Sweetie, I dont know, I cannot remember that far back. LOL, I think it is normal. Any doctor would probably tell you that. Nothing to be alarmed about. You must be a new mom. Congradulation!!!

Thanks. I do have a potty for him, I think I will get it out and see if he wants to sit before bath time. (That will have to be tomorrow since I just gave him a bath). Thanks for the input.

Is that something a normal little guy his age does? in all honesty it sounds like he's really gotta go..I mean..do you think he's wettin' his diaper more then usual ?...ask your Dr....maybe he's drinking lots of liquids...or...his bladder is just small...by the way...how long did you pause before using " wiener "...as oppose to...his wee-wee...or something else...although I must say when I first read " wiener "...I smiled...you're so cute !!... |

i have 2 boys...one of them would do that...i started putting cotton training pants on him (not pull ups!!!!!!!!) for a 1/2 hour or so at a time when i had time and would take time to potty every little bit...one day he fell asleep w/his underpants on and woke up crying cuz he and his bed were wet...and he never ever wet his pants again or wet the bed at nites...that was at 23 months...
my older son i used pull ups on cuz i thought they were GREAT...worst mistake ever...omg i thought he was going to have to wear them to kindergarten...i think the problem w/the pull ups is they're like a diaper in they don't allow the child to feel the uncomfort of being wet i also used regular cotton training pants for my daughter w/the same success of my middle son...neither one ever wet the bed or their pants...i just bought to packs of them for my granddauther who's 24 months old and lives with me and i told her dad we're going to start the process after xmas... good luck to you both and sorry for such a long read..oh yeah and exploring, playing with themselves is normal...just ignore it and when you think you really can't take it anymore and your child is a pre-destined perv they'll stop and move on to some other creative passtime...brenda |

Well he does drink a lot of water. (It's all I give him and floride free) Maybe it's too much water? Well he hasn't pee'd on my floor in a few days. Maybe it's just a terrible 2 kinda thingy ma jigger. And I always call it a wiener. Or sometimes a tinky. Thanks darlin. |

Yeppers....
Try out the pull ups with the wet/cold sensors, they are supposed to be uncomfortable, yet NOT drippy on your floor. But I'd say it is WAAAAAAAY too soon for potty training. |

Thanks. Yeah, I don't feel he is ready for the potty just yet. I got it out last night and he was trying to put it on his head.

He could have a mild bladder or kidney infection and then he may have just discovered a new personal toy...Remember how he played with his feet not long ago

I would say if he is doing that, he is ready to be put on the big boy pants. I know both of my boys were about 21 months old when I started to train them.
Good luck and honestly, I don't think boys are really that hard to train |

Oy, the memories! My son did that. I don't think it's sign they're ready for potty training, though it doesn't hurt to try, just don't push it. Some kids are ready sooner than others. It's like a toy, he's discovering the joys of his body My son from the day he was born until the day he was trained would pee every time the diaper came off, I learned very quickly to have something at the ready every time he needed changing.
My son was easy to train, took all of less than a week and he was fully trained. He basically decided for himself he was done with diapers (he was not quite 3). |

hey I have four boys and it really sounds like yours is getting ready to start using the potty. If I was you I would start putting him on the big potty as soon as possible in the mornings and after naps. that is the best time to get them to use the potty. When my boys peed in the potty I would clap and cheer. It really made peeing in the potty fun. You only have to clap and cheer for a week or two and then they have the hang of peeing while sitting on the potty. ANother thing that makes boys easier to potty train is the fact that you can let them pee outside. It is such a novelty, tell him he is watering a certain tree or bush or even the grass. He will learn to use the potty inside too.
Pull ups just prolong the potty training period. They are still able to wet in them and not really feel wet. It just don't sink in. If your ready you can give him the opportunity to not wear anything under his pants or buy him big boy underwear, either way if he pees he will see the consquences. 21 months is an awesome age to get this process started. don't punish him if he wets his pants just talk to him about how bad it feels to be wet and then clean him up and get some new clothes. It hardly took anytime at all using the above method with my four boys and they were the same age. |
