I've been wondering why is it hard for a person with a disability too find that special someone.I'am on disability and its really hard for me to find someone that respect me for who i am.

What kind of disability do you have if you dont mind saying it publicly? I didnt see it on your profile.

i also had the same problem for i have issue with my kidneys and i have been on dialysis for 3yrs.
i met someone on here a month ago and he looked past my health issue and saw me for who i am...

I understand as a mother of a 21yr ol lad with C.P he is still a virgin .......... oh the gorls like him cause he is a good looking lad but they take him for his money and thats it they dont want nowt else no fair I say.

i dont usuailly put my disability in my profiles.. its just a mental disorder so to speak

I think too many people are shallow and self centered. They think that just because someone has a disability that they will have to take care of that person day and night or that they can't have a good time.
I don't think that I have found someone that is disabled (And mentally able to date) be unable to take care of themselves. I mean sure, somethings are limited to them but not EVERYTHING. Seriously...People are so judgemental and self-centered.

Alan, I have the same problem WITHOUT a disability. I've published two books this year and I can't find anyone who respects me either.

Not being small is also a big issue with the men as well. People are just so shallow anymore.
I would have no problem dating someone with a disability.

Well the first reaction that someone will have is fear. They assume you are "nuts" or "bonkers" because mental disability is a stigmatized term in our culture.

I recommend that you get to know the person a little more intimately before you disclose this. That way you will be able to get a feel for their overall level of intelligence and ability to comprehend the severity of your particular disorder. I am assuming that you are probably controlling it at this point in time? Be that with medications or whatever else?

I would start out slow and not reveal it right away. Once the topic comes up that you are on disability, it will already be unavoidable.
