Holding a grudge...

I truly believe grudges can kill ........

I have known folks that can hold a grudge a very long time. I can't. Once I get what's bugging me out in the open, it's pretty much gone, as quickly as it came.

I have had people so ticked off at me they could spit but I refuse to let them stay upset with me, I will deliberately do something insane to make them laugh until they can't keep a straight face.

I won't let very much time pass before I make an attempt to clean up my mess. I keep more friends that way.. grin

So? Are you a grudge keeper? How do you deal with the messes you make with friends and family?

boo2u....good4ubigsmile (couldn't resist)

I have held grudges in the past but have adapted your attitude. Like do not to let the sun go down while I am still angry, be quick to forgive and overlook an offense.

You know, physicians are starting to be aware that the spirit, soul, and body are connected and a lot of illnesses have to do with reactions or feelings that have been pent up inside.

I have never been one to hold a grudge. Nor have I ever felt a need to seek revenge.

The concept of turning the other cheek has always been innate in me.

In fact, this is one of the things that had me questioning the Bible early on.

The things that Jesus taught have always seem innate to me. When I read his moral parables all I can think is, "You mean there are people out there who actually need to be taught to behave like this?"

I mean seriously!

Everything that Jesus supposedly taught always seemed to me to be innate common sense.

In fact, the parable of the harlot at the well and the mob who wanted to stone her to death for being a sinner was a real eye-opener for me.

Jesus said to them, "He who is without sin cast the first stone."

I believe myself to be without sin (contrary to what the Bible teaches).

So the first thing I thought to myself was what would I do in that situation?

Being a man without sin I would have the "right" to cast the first stone!

So then the very next question is obvious. Would I want to cast the stone!

Hell no!

That's the reason I'm a sinless man in the first place. I have no desire to go around casting stones at people!

Hey, I may not be a sinner, but I am deep thinker.

So I thought about it some more.

Why are these idiots wanting to throw stones that this woman in the first place!

Well DUH!

Because the biblical God told them to do just that!

WHOA! shocked

Epiphany!
think

Ok, so if God told these people to stone sinners to death, and Jesus is God, then why is he changing his mind?

Houston! We've got a problem!

Yes sir. This was one of the early epiphanies that put me on the track to re-examining the whole biblical story.

After many years of re-examnination and contemplation I came to the conclusion that there is absolutely no way that Jesus could be the Son of the God of Abraham.

He was totally opposed to the religion that had been built on that false image of a God.

(sorry if I got carried away and seemingly off topic, but this is where the topic leads ultimately).

I absolutely get what you're saying, Brian. I am just ignoring you to crack you up.. smooched

I have had people tick me off many times, we are just different. It takes a lot for me to turn my back on someone I care about, or hell someone that I might not care all that much about. I just realize we all have a profound affect on one another, and out world is the way it is because we do not forgive or often forget. And when it is long past it is usually ourselves that we hurt most.

Abra,
Ephesians 2:14-16 (New International Version)

14For he himself is our peace, who has made the two one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility, 15by abolishing in his flesh the law with its commandments and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new man out of the two, thus making peace, 16and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.

When I was much younger I had a horrific temper, one that scared me in fact. I never physically hurt anyone but I would be totally out of control. It always had a huge affect on me, I just didn't know how to control it until later. Thankfully it wasn't too much later.

It was in observing people that were in control that taught me how to control my feelings. It's growing up, some times a traumatic ongoing process. Forget some times, ugh, it can be downright painful.

Yes I know exactly what you mean, you can be assured of that. Been there, done that, twice. But at my age, I am so so so happy to not be at that stage anymore. I would not want to do it over believe me. I learned my lessons harder than I ever had to, but no one told me very young that I could learn them differently, so I had to find out by trial and error.

Now I am going to take this aging body of to bed to get some needed sleep. You keep up the fight my friend, you too will get past it as I did as long as you assume friendship first, never the other way around, it helps.

Holding a grudge can make you physically sick, I know that from my own experience in earlier times.
Nowadays I either sort things out, or I just put them aside to completely forget them.
