I saw on the TV today. That some people want the Rudolph the red nose to be taken out of school songs. You know when you go to your children’s Christmas concerts and what not. There is another song they want us no to sing. Because that song has to do with Christ. When did that song have to do with Christ?

Here is the thing that flippin cares if it does. When did this country start hating so much? I know there are a few people that hate Christmas but come on. Last time I checked freedom of speech was still around. In addition, any song that I know of goes under that.

We hear about people being killed, raped, and so on in songs but our children cannot sing about a deer of all things now. Well I for one think we should be able to sing it and so should our children.

Why do you assume that people 'hate' christmas and hate everything else?

I do not celebrate christmas and when it's time, will choose to NOT let my son (unless he wants to) participate in school activities that involve the christian religion.

I googled this to get the story when you posted. There are a few places with this story and not all of the agencies are reporting the whole story. The mother is Jewish. Rudolph is a Christmas song.. If they were to sing a Christmas song she thought it fair to also sing Hanukkah songs... She is giving them a hard time for not also recognizing the other holidays.. I didn't read the whole story but there is more to it than just banning Rudolph...

You can't trust the media.. they only tell you what they want you to know...

I am a room Parent at my daughters school, and they no longer call it a Christmas Part they now call it a Winter party, because of the different ethnic cultures that don't celebrate Christmas, it's also the same for halloween they call it a "fall harvest party" to me it will always be Christmas... I think its time to look at the school board you have elected. Believe it or not you do have a say on what happens in your school district. Just a thought..Nothing happens in that school that you cant be aware of and you have a right to say if your child participates or not..Maybe the woman complaining about Rudolph should think of that.

Unless they are puppets to the administration. Every now and then you hear of one having courage and doing what is best for all kids.

I dont beleive banning Rudolph is the best for all kids. Im just saying get involved, make your feelings known and vote locally!!!

ok.. you're not looking at the whole story... She is complaining about Rudolph.. not simply because it is Rudolph.. she wants to raise a fuss because they are singing a Christmas song but not a Hanukkah song and she is Jewish.. She tried getting them to play a Hanukkah song and they wouldn't

I too wasn't referring to Rudolph. My point was a general comment I have about some school boards and how they come to vote the way they do.

Well me as a parent would not have a problem with singing both. But do not take Christmas out of the schools. I would fight that!!! I think kids need to learn about other beliefs beyond just their own. So sing them both and let the ids learn!!! JMO

That's what she wants.. to sing both.. but they won't let that happen.. so she believes if that can't happen then neither should be sung...

I would question why not let it happen. What does it hurt? The kids might actually learn something new. If they dont want their kid participating they have the right to have them excused from the activity.

It just cracks me up when I hear things like they teach sex ed, birth control or the most popular of all in this last election, teach my kid that being gay is ok. You have the right to say what your child participates in school. You have the right to say no. All you have to do is get involved in whats being taught at your school. I like having to sign those permission slips....

Why should she say no? Why should her child not participate? It's a Public school.. If they can involve Christmas for the ones who celebrate it.. Why not Hanukah?
