Thank you. I do get told often that I remind people of Bettie Page and I usually shrug or laugh it off. It makes me uneasy I suppose (I suck when given compliments) but like I said before, it's a great honor to be compared to Bettie Page and I need to learn to say thank you. It's very humbling when you get compared to someone like her.

Damn, she was so fine. I'd kill to have a woman like that.

Yes ya know Hellkitten kinda has that Betty Page look going on

When I had bangs, I got that a lot.

Every girl I know with black hair and bangs gets compared to her. To me there is no comparison, only one Betty Page. flowerforyou Thanks though.

I will share what I wrote to a friend this morning.

Bettie Page died yesterday. Pnemonia. But she has been in the hospital and unconscious since a heart attack 4 weeks ago. I should think that would count as a coma. But still, it is sad. The article was REALLY sad. Father sexually abusing her at 13. Three bad marriages. And the photo that made her famous was for Playboy and the money went to the photographer. She was never compensated for it. She left modeling and pretty much when into seclusion when she was supeanoed (Sp) to go to court because lawmakers were linking her modeling to juvenielle delinquincy. She turned to religion and never had a family. It was only the renewed interest in her in the 80's that she actually made an income from her modeling career and so she is no longer ashamed of it, since it has helped her get by.

On the whole, I'm not sure I wanted to know she had such a sad life. And was it really as sad as the writer was making it out to be? It kinda makes the shinniness of Betty Page art feel kind of brittle.

Oh my, I didn't realize I spelled stuff so badly this morning.

I too, am on the verge of tears hearing about Bettie Page's death.

She's my all-time favorite pin-up girl, even more so than Marilyn Monroe.

Photos or film footage, there's something about her that's SO REAL.

She had become quite reclusive over the years, and preferred not to have her photo taken anymore, stating that it was better to be remembered as she was when she was young and virile instead of old, but I did manage to find this:

The photo Keith posted of her was taken on her 80th birthday at the Playboy mansion. Hugh Hefner threw a huge party for her and as far as I'm aware, that was the last public photo taken of her since her mug shots.

Regardless, at 80 she was just as beautiful as she was at 34 when she quit modeling. Beautiful because it shone from her heart, not just her skin.

WOW When I first started this thread,
I was not sure if anyone even knew who Betty was. I am pleased to find all the people posting here thought of much of her as I do.

One of my favorites, but hard to find the full color, full size poster these days on the net:

She was gorgeous and sensual in her heyday.
