Do you have a doctor who you are willing to pay to see? This is before any care or prescriptions?

*shrug* Health care is free here in Canada .. So my vote would be no. Not to mention I can't remember the last time I needed / wanted to go see one

None. Not at least in the town I live. They are all idiots.

I took my son to the docs one day because his fingernails were falling off. It was disturbing to me.

He told me he didn't know what the problem was since Austin was healthy. Bla bla bla.

Anyhow, I started googling stuff about it and found out that it was more than likely caused by hand, foot, mouth disease which my son had 6 weeks before.

I went back to the docs and told him and he didn't even know that disease did that. But he went and talked to another doctor and looked online and he confirmed what I already told him.

So no way will I pay to see one.

Yes, I paid to go see one particular Retinal Vitreous specialist a couple of times.

Don't hate we get screwed in other ways (Taxes)

Meds aren't covered (at least most) But surgery, Visits, X-Rays etc.

I love my doctor been with him for over 10 years... he is like a mentor to me.. def would and DO pay his punk butt... ha

my 3 hour visit to the ER cost me 8 grand they sent me home with Aleve. one visit to the doc for me is 95 bucks I'd rather pay taxes and be able to get health care when I need it.

260 to see a doc for me to get pain pills when i broke my tailbone.... i needed the note to not work for 4 days since i could not get outta bed or sit lol

Samething here, we have free health care here in Canada, and I would not pay to go see one, not a fan of them as it is.

Sorry, AOL. In Washington, some rural doctors are charging 50-100 dollars just for a retainer fee. If you actually visit, you pay for the visit and prescriptions.

These are private doctors who only take patients with insurance, will not accept Medicare or welfare patients as they do not pay enough, and they make some of their patients (out of their county) pay them $50 to $100 a month to keep them on retainer basically in case they may need to see them, otherwise they will not see them if they need an appointment.

Our hospital has is an "acute access" hospital and has a rural health grant and offers sliding fee scales so people without money are also seen and given care, even surgery (if they can't pay, their bill is written off). The hospital bought 5 local clinics so they could ensure people on Medicare, welfare and without money would be seen and cared for. Many private doctors and specialists in surrounding towns are now refusing to take referrals of any patients without this "retainer" ahead of time as they have enough patients and are making plenty of money.

As Pat said, this just the "retainer" - should you visit the doctor, you pay the full visit fee and all regular charges accrued at the time of the visit.
