It never clearly states what the Sodomites did to make them such exceedingly great sinners, though most bible believers equate "Sodomite" with homosexual. The bible also makes the claim that the sins of Sodom were pride, gluttony, sloth, greed, and failure to help the poor.  The story of the sodomites is often misinterpreted...their crimes were not homosexuality, but cruelty, lack of hospitality, bloodshed, and arrogance and their sadistic nature..their crimes related to a lack of compassion for humankind...their sexuality was questioned only in that they were violent about it... Agreed. Thats why I posted that passage directly to show the Christians on this thread. They were threatening to "know" the two male angels also when they surrounded Lot's home. More than likely that was in reference to male rape but that was but one of their "shortcomings" according to god. Its all a bunch of fictional analogy anyway. It is absolutely wonderful, that you realize the bible is fictional analogy...Keep in mind I believe in god, there is one thing people seem to forget, The bible in all its glory was written by man, passages "from the word or influence of god" have been kept in or removed from the bible by men, people are imperfect therefore the bible is imperfect....even as the word of god it is selected and recorded by man..their humanity, fears, prejudices, and general opinions reflect upon that greatly |
