How do you know when it is time to ask someone out, that you are talking to here? it's been a while since I have dated. How do you know when she is interested in a date, or just being polite and chatting with you?

Never hurts to try to just be straight forward...
If you feel she is putting out some signal to maybe go on one, then ask away...

Best Of Luck

Ask her out. What are you waiting for?

Just go ahead and ask. It's the quickest way to find out what's going on. flowerforyou

Most of the time if you can maintain emailing for more than 12 times or over a couple days. Then you know someone might be interested. If they are asking questions, engaging conversation, and are providing information about themselves, then that is an indicator that they are more interested. Just feel it out like you would someone that you see once a week at a cooking class or at the gym.... off maybe to chat on an instant messanger or talk on the phone. If she is willing to give that information, that shows interests. But ultimately, you are going to have to just come out and ask.

Im assuming you are actually posing this question to the males but I can give you the female perspective. In my day to day life, I will ask a man out myself if I feel like I want to get to it and hes not making a first move. I will just ask. A lot of men seem to really find that refreshing.

As far as on here, Ive been approached by several men to meet but none have been close enough to make it something that can be accomplished easily. I think once you have been talking off and on for a long enough time that you feel you would be comfortable meeting the person face to face, then that is the appropriate time to ask. You dont have anything to lose because if she is not willing to meet or its too soon, Im sure she will just tell you this

It's been 17 years since I have been in the dating scene. I haven't talked to anyone on the phone. Yet. Everytime I have asked to meet up with someone, I keep getting the reply...."That's not what i am here for" I mean is this not a dating site? Or am I wrong? Or is it just me?

I think it's better to ask her out after you've talked to her on the phone. I'm more comfortable with that. But..that's just me. Everybody's different.

Thank you winx. I know I sound like a smuck, but I have been with the same woman for the last 17 years, and I am starting over from scratch. Trying to make new friends and find someone special. Just hard to know where to begin, you know.
