I have used skype even have some little thingy I bought where I can plug my regular house phone into it to make calls.

I dont like it much though, the call quality is AWFUL and I do get dropped calls more than on my cell.

I used it some before I got an internet phone. My boss at work uses it all the time with a webcam for video conferencing with his friends on the mainland & lot of foreigners here use it cause it's so cheap for international calling.

I'm going to Cambodia in Jan for a few weeks, and that's what I'll be using to call home.

Magic Jack gives you local and long distance. You just have to have high speed internet and a USB port. It runs through your computer.

Which is the same as Vonage.
vonage is 24 a month my phone is 21 a year. yea it is the same but i go for the price.

and you're forgetting that if the person you're calling has Skype it is free for both of you, no matter where in the world you are.

I got rid of skype to many problems....drop calls & echoes. People couldn't hear me at various times.... I currently use the magic jack it's nice without all the technical problems. Free long distance & voice mail is sent to my email account.
