drinker Obama is the Light Bringer Lindyy.drinker

bigsmile Accept him into your heart like I did and it will all make senseflowerforyou

As i said, be careful about accepting the next crooked man in office "into your heart". Support him, sure. But please try to urge him to do the right thing. Unfortunately he never stood for any sort of "change". We need an engineer that will slow down a run away train. Unfortunately we voted for one that just knows what to say, not what to do...

You forget that Jefferson and other founding fathers were not in favor of pure democracies fearing mob mentality and the tyranny of the majority.

I remember, and agree. A republic is what our country was founded on. Mob rule is not what we need right now. People don't want freedom, they want big daddy (the government) to take care of them. People resist taking on their own responsibility. There is no perfect form of government, but I do like how we have a democratic republic. There are most checks and balances in affect.

The downside is in order for a republic to work, we need proper representation.

I recently delved into the wretched hive of paranoia and bitterness that is post-election Right Wing forums. Apparently, all that liberal rhetoric about how we’re going to rebuild this country still applies, it’s just that now they’ll be doing it much more literally than initially thought. That’s because time and again, the folks in these forums insist that the nation will be burned to the god damned ground before they see Liberal elitists like Obama change a single hair on America’s sexy, but sensibly-styled head...

I read a post that was almost identical to this on another forum site. While people are running around pointing fingers at a few "right wingers" on some website that almost no one has ever heard of before, the democrats are on a witch hunt for opponents of prop 8, and might have burned down Sarah Palin's church.

Since Obama has been elected, I have not seen any big riots or protests by republicans. Where is all this anger and hate that is being refered to in the article above?

Someone who respects diverse opinions and realizes he represents all the people not just his and his parties interests?

I am not sure he will pull it off but if he does wouldn't that be a nifty trick?

A president that acts presidential and not like a partisan hack?

Well last time I checked I was a "real" person and fully admit that I am a liberal. The joke would appear to be on the Conservatives at this point and time. Even the Republican party has stated that they need to broaden their base and "change" things within their party. Our soon to be former President left a very large black stain on the Republican party that is going to be hard to remove and don't even get me started on what Palin did. Now there is a joke.

At any rate, I have a very clean conscience when I go to bed at night because I didn't vote for Bush in his elections nor did I vote for McCain in this one. Whether you are a Republican or a Democrat there is no questioning this country is in dire straights and it desperately needs to be fixed. We are going to disagree on who we think should be fixing this mess but instead of calling us Democrats/Libs "loons" maybe you should take a deep breath and think before you speak and be open to other's opinions instead of insulting them. You may not agree but tolerance is a great thing. Try it you may like it. flowerforyou

The irony is that the moderate/centrist republicans got their candidate, and the results speak for themselves.

Since 1980 the republicans have won the presidency every time they nominate someone who is widely perceived to be a conservative. Whenever they nominate someone perceived to be a moderate/centrist the republicans lose.

As far as Sarah Palin goes, McCain went from being a 20 point underdog to being behind by 5 points after selecting her. That is one of the most impressive improvements in polls from a VP candidate ever.

Admittedly that may have been more about the weakness McCain than about the greatness of Palin, but it is clear that she was hugely helpful to the McCain campaign.

QuickStepper says:

So much for a clean conscience. Right?

Since when won't a liberal admit they are liberals? I'm a liberal, had no problem saying so. So, let's see just what a liberal is, must be awful if quickstepper likes to use it a lot, I went after the definition to see just what it is she dislikes to much.
