The Universal Life Church of Brutal Truth and Honesty

Rev High Priestess Jeannie, is your host.

Here you can state what is truth to you, and you can ask people for their honest opinions.

I believe that people should be true to themselves first, and then true to others, always being as honest as possible, always being yourself a much as possible.

In order to be yourself, you have to know yourself. If you show your true self to others and practice honesty always with as much kindness as you can muster, when you are loved you will be loved for who you truly are.

Being honest may still seem brutal to some people at times, but there are ways to be honest and keep it kind. There are times when tough love is needed. Hence the name of my church.

I am Gloria Jean, ordained minister of the Universal Life Church. I believe people create their personal reality with their thoughts and attitudes. I am an artist and tarot card designer and reader.

I believe every person has the right to believe what they choose and practice the religion of their choice.

If you have a question or would like to comment on something please do.

All are welcome here.

This thread seems rather dead. Thanks for stopping by. I've been hanging out in the "other religion" thread with friends and the Science and Philosophy forum mostly.

By the looks of this thread people aren't ready for truth an honest.

My truth is that we are eternal spirit, as is everything in this world.

My truth is that all religions are manmade myths. There are no exceptions to this.

My truth is that we should choose the myth that we believe most reflects what we believe 'god' or spirit to be.

My truth is that if we can't find a suitable myth we should create our own and the worst thing anyone can possibly do for themselves is to accept a picture of 'god' that is negative or in in any way less than what they feel spirit should be.

My truth is that atheism is a valid choice of myth for those who find it attractive. It's not suitable for me personally, but if it works for others more power to them.

My truth is that I've chosen a very flexible manmade mythology through which to honor the spirit. It is based on many traditions of witchcraft and shamanism.

My truth is that I use the Sun and the Moon as symbols to represent the Yin and Yang of spirit. It's true that I view them in my mind as the symbols of "deities", but I'm also fully aware that these are metaphors, parables, and analogies for the purpose of communiqué with the spirit.

My truth is that there can be no such thing as a jealous judgmental egotistical godhead as this very idea is the antithesis of very nature of what I believe spirit to be.

My truth is that religions that insist that they hold the only truth of 'god' are a cancer to the human spirit. They have proven their unworthiness of the divine throughout history and continue to provoke hostilities to this very day.

My truth is found in Mother Nature Herself, the great creator and pervader of life.

My truth is love in its purest form.

Thank you Glory Jean for an opportunity to speak truth in a forum that otherwise seems to have deteriortated into ruthless proselytizing of hateful concepts of judgement against others based on how they might choose to view the spirit.

If only people could allow their brothers and sisters to interact with God in their own way.

I leave you with a song I wrote, performed for you by the gracious and loving Reverend Rabbit.

Hesitately steps in the front doors of the church. He looks both ways and walks quietly to the corner of the room to take a seat. laugh

A mug of your finest brew pleaselaugh or does your church not serve good beer??

As he takes his finely brewed mug of ale he begins to ask a question seeking a brutally truthful answer!

Did you know a coakroach can live without using its head for a whole week and a male human for an entire lifetime?

Now why is that?

That is a wonderful way to be. It is being a channel for creativity and love and life and all things good. Paying it forward so to speak.

I can feel the creativity flow through me when I am painting well, and I can feel when the creative energy is blocked, so I know what you are talking about.

Through the use of positive affirmations, daily.....Words have power , especially when spoken.

The use Visualization techniques.. Learned when I was an athlete...very specific and exacting. "Your will power is so much less effective than your imagination." See it in your mind's eye....

Meditation.....Astral projection(this one is tough for me)

Physical exertion ....Yoga...Thai Chi(just starting) power walking....Endorfin release is awesome...

I find that being honest with yourself and honest with others to be one of the biggest challenges in life. When you strive for self honesty you have to have a dialogue with yourself. You have to ask and answer your own questions about how you truly feel about things.

Some people sometimes don't know how to feel about something and they suspend their true feelings until they learn from others what they 'should' be feeling about it.

Believe it or not, what others believe effects other people around them. Attitudes can be contagious. They aren't always contagious, but the can be. People want to fit in with the crowd.

That is why I think so many people in certain religions all get together and agree to believe the same things. Then they feel like they are part of the group. But one person in that group that suddenly decides to disagree strongly about something, can effect the whole group. They will either be cast out, or the group will turn and follow that person. Depending how crucial this disagreement is, it could lead to the group splitting up.

This is how religion divides into different denominations.

I believe if you cook a fantastic meal for a diverse group of people you will achieve more peace and happiness in the end.

I believe if we are truly honest with ourselves and with others we should mention that "we don't know what happens to us in the afterlife (if we have one) and should say "we don't know".

I believe imagination and fantasy is a great concept to have to enjoy your creativity to entertain people, yet it is important to say that it is just an imagination that you enjoy to practice and not a reality.

I believe that humanitarians are the true heroes of the world. Those who don't worry about religion, but more about life and preserving it everywhere they go, are the people we should see as rolemodels.

I believe that we should contemplate on the simple things in life to really appreciate life in general. The mere fact that we can look at trees, the sun, breathe air, enjoy a flower, or even swim in a lake or ocean is something so special that many tend to forget that is the whole reason for life. To enjoy the simplicity of what is given to us.

I believe we as humans tend to complicate life more then it needs to be just to get accepted in society.

I believe Jeannie has always told the brutal truth in all of her posts and thank her for her wisdom to allow me to contemplate deeper on some of the issues that faces mankind.

I believe I have found some really nice people who occassionally find the time to email me just to say hi is a blessing in itself.

I believe we can live a life in peace if we put our minds to it even if we have been raised different then another person. By the way I am doing a ritual native indian dance this weekend. I won't be able to do it long for I have a bad leg, but the effort of trying to understand a ancient culture and participating in it gives me the opportunity to understand our world better.

May you have a great day everyone.
