I am still trying to date that 28 yr old... I will be 24 in January. She has a big issue with the age thing and wont date me because of it. Not sure if she will ever get over it, but we still have fun sometimes.

It's not about age as much as personality, maturity, and common ground.

My older brother is dating a women 10 years older than he is. I have a simple perspective on this, it goes 'she stimulates him in a way that a girl his age couldn't.'

It's not the physical stimulation, per say, he could find that in any number of woman of any legal age. So I agree, it does come down to a maturity factor. It's the point where they both have common relationship goals, and they satisfy not only the needs, but the wants from one another in their companionship. It's the notion of exceptionalism. The pursuit of exception was met by both of them.

I realize it must be quite a challenge to find someone so exceptional when you yourself are exceptional. Of course, that's open to perspective. Maybe the indian culture had it right with the arranged marriages. haha

We can look at this from a basic part of our being. Our instinct is to reproduce. So we all are attracted to the younger and stronger in order to make sure that we have healthier children. Women and men have the same instincts. (This is some boring stuff) Although if you really think about it like this it will make sense. Or not ?

I know that this is only theory I do not base my thoughts on this.

LOL, what about those don't have the "reproductive instinct" and who don't want children- ever? Maybe they just like the looks and/or personality of the younger guys/women? Who knows?

I don't care what other people do; I've been with younger guys and found them juvenile, fickle, and lacking integrity. They let the views of their family and friends come before what they wanted. There were other problems with the "relationship" too, but that was a large part of it.

But in regards to those who choose to date younger, all I can say is- more power to you!drinker

Age is only a number to a certain extent. I would never date anyone that could be a daughter to me, but older or youger doesn t really matter it's the persons character and personality

Maybe it's time for you to find someone closer to your age then? If she has a firm resolve about that, and it sounds like she does, it seems like you're wasting your time when you could be out seeking someone who wants what you want.

Even if she does change her mind and decides to date you anyway, keep in mind unless she's a very strong person, her family and friends might make it so uncomfortable for her, that she'd be driven to end it, in order to maintain a relationship with them. I have friends who won't date any man younger than them- even if it's only by a year or so. But since you want it, I hope it works out for you.flowerforyou

What do you think about it? When I was 38 I dated a man that was 25. It was one of the best relationships i've ever had. He was more mature than some of the men that I have dated that are my age.

Wasn't sure where to post this. I don't think it's "relationship advice" because to each his own, "ya know what I mean Vern"laugh

My girl friend is 8 years older than me and we are extremely happy. It is the 6th year of our relationship.

Some people just don't get it.... age is a case of mind over matter. If you don't mind it don't matter
