Why does someone ask you to join their friends list and then decline to answer when you attempt to IM them?

instant messenger can be a pain in the Ars* my biggest downfall is forgetting to turn it off. a lot of my friends like communication through the forums, its generally where i meet them. so they have the same understanding and likes, its often the people who you meet away from the forums who want to know more about you the quick way, because they saw a glimpse of your profile.

basically i don't think its a bad thing if they decline your attempt i personally won't decline you i would tell you, look would you mind emailing me.

For some people it looks good to have lots of friends on their profile even if they never talk to most of them.I prefer one good friend or none then a million fake ones.

Honestly i avoid becomming a "Collector" (as I call them)and I will go through my social networking sites and clean off people i never talk to I keep real life friends(i am actually friends with) and all my family other than that, if i don't talk to you for 3 months you'll find yourself missing from my friend lists.

Because they think they're on MySpace and you're supposed to be number 5575 in a series of cardboard cutout "friends" who they will never meet or talk to. Now THAT'S egalitarianism (especially if there's an eagle involved).
