I have worked in three shipyards overhauling huge ships and let me tell you fixing those boats up in a huge task.Lets just say they did bring every piece up.It would not be possible to put it back together as everything would have to be sanded or sandblasted to bare metal to weld it back together. The majority of the steel on that boat is probably 1/4" steel and after sand blasting and sanding there would be probably nothing left. The hull steel was I believe 1" or 2" thick and rivited together. It would probably be possible to sandblast the hull and assemble it back together.Any bent, cracked, missing,or otherwise damaged steel would have to be fabricated and replaced. In the end you would have a boat that was 1/4 original Titanic and 3/4 new Titanic.

The boat propeller would probably be not too hard to get out of the ocean(and would be a neat display piece)if it was not attached to the main drive shaft to the engine. The drive shaft is typically 2'-3' thick of solid steel. There is some huge bolts that bolt the propeller to the main shaft.I am not sure how they would disengage or cut the shaft from the main propeller to get it off.I know those bolts have fused into the steel by now. There was a very large 6 ton section from the side of the ship that was recovered and usually travels with the Titanic exibit. The original steam whistles were also recovered and blown again.

You might want to do some research on Titanic's sister ship the Olympic. The Olympic was nearly identical to Titanic in every way.I believe it was converted to a hospital ship during the war and was sunk by a torpedo.

I always thought it would be a good idea for someone to invest the money to build a new Titanic ship made from the original blueprints(with modern safety features or course).Because of its simplicity I think it would be alot less cheaper to build than a modern cruise ship and I think it would always be sell out on its cruises.

It depends on which propeller you're speaking of. Titanic was a tri-prop ("triple-screw") powered by two four-cylinder reciprocating triple-expansion steam engines, each producing 15,000 horsepower for the two outboard bronze triple-blade wing propellers at 75 revolutions per minute, and one low-pressure turbine producing 16,000 horsepower to run the one bronze quadruple-blade center propeller, which was situated in front of the rudder. Even at maximum power, her fastest speed was still less than 30 m.p.h. The outboard propellers had a diameter of 23' 6", and the center prop had a diameter of 17'. The entire surface area covered 125 square feet.

Given the fact that the bow slammed into the seabed with such force as to bury itself 60 feet into the silt, one can only surmise that the stern had at least as much force. Those propellers would probably be next to impossible to recover even if they wanted to.

Too bad Leonardo's character was fictional. It was said that he was from Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. I live in Wisconsin, about an hour and a half away from Chippewa Falls. Here's the kicker: "Jack" said that he "used to go ice fishing on Lake Wissota when he was young".

Not possible.

Lake Wissota is a man-made lake, created in 1917. Titanic sank in 1912.

Aside from the technical limitations, who is going to pay for it? It would be very expensive and some kind of investment deal for rights, movie deals, books, photos, etc would have to be made. And it is a grave too. Let that rest in peace.

As far as the movie goes......
The boat sinks every time ya' watch it, get over it.
