would I be an a$$ if

Ok when I got divorced I let my ex keep her cell thats on my plan. I never asked her for a dime for it. I was thinking that way when I wanted to talk to my little angels she wouldnt have an excuse to say she wasnt home or some other lame thing like that. Well today I called at around 9:30 this morning to wish them a happy thanksgiving and it is now 3:30 and I havnt gotten a call back. This has happened several other times for various other things and times I just wanted to talk to them.
So would I be an a$$ if I had her cell turned off?

well I don't know how long you've been divorced but I'd say "no wouldn't be an ass for cancelling the cell" but you should first tell her and tell the cell company that she can take the number over...

How old are your kids? Are they too young for cell phones?

If the purposed of it is to talk to the kids. Get you kids the kind that you can just add minutes to it rather than one with so many minutes a month. That's what a friend does with her daughter.

Let your ex supply her own personal phone.

Do you trust her (I'm assuming a her) with a cell? I bought my son one when he was 10 b/c he wanted to walk to school rather than me drive him, I'm a ninny but the 3 blocks made me nervous.. scared

My ex pays for mine and our daughters. But, I've never been an ass. I don't take it for granted and we have no issues with communicating or with our child.

But, yeah, I'd get cheapo phones for at least ONE child with all the guards on it in case it's lost or stolen. And, let your ex-wife know what you're doing by cancelling hers and getting one just for the kids for ease of communication access to THEM.

Hope you are having a good Thanksgiving in spite of her little game or plain old inconsideration. drinker

I've thought about that
having another phone on my family plan is only $10 a month

i got my son a pre pay cell, in case he needed it when he got out of school, or needed help...i never have trouble getting in touch on his phone...he is on my cell plan now at 13...
i would not, nor should you, pay your exs way, in any way...but that's JMHO...good luck

You are not being an @$$, but I do think that the advice to let her know is good. That way she does have the option to take it over herself.

But be careful. When I got divorced I told my ex that he needed to take over his own line and I even set up everything on my end with the phone company; they just needed confirmation from him. So, the next month he not only didn't transfer the line, but he ran up a $300 bill texting his new girlfriend.
