So I won't bore you with heavy details but every night in a row for the past 3 nights so far I've been dreaming about people and or robots (lol i know right, one occurence though and was accompanied by a man) trying to harm either me or my family and me having to protect them, every dream has had two or more family members present and takes place in or near large house with many rooms. They seem to come in sets of three each night (or that's all i can remember) and They seem to have a powerful millitary atmosphere (not landscape, just the feeling of what's going on).
The first night intrigued me so much that I got my laptop out as soon as I woke up and egan typing them down. I have designated a notebook as my "dream journal" after my gf told me that this was a common thing to keep. She also informed me thatthere are numerous books out there that consist of people's interpretations of what some dreams may mean, if anything.

I have looked at a few online but am a beginner to this sort of phenomenae so my question is this:

Are there any books out there that you believe in heavily, if not swear by, that re related to this topic? I am NOT looking for answers containing books that you or your friends have heard about, I would like to hear about YOUR personal experiences with the book and if you gained any understanding from it.

Unfortunately, I have not found any good dream interpretation books. It would seem that dreams are too personal to be able to apply much general interpretation to. However, there are some dreams that are common to all people.

I don't know enough about the subject to tell you about yours. All I can say is that dreams are generally they way your mind works through problems in your subconscious. In my opinion your dreams seem to indicate that you feel overly burdened with responsibilities to your family.

Dreams are symbolic and are relevant to the dreamer.

Books can give you some guidelines as to possible directions of meaning and archetypal relationships but the interpretation will be very personal.

Generally speaking ... everyone in the dream represents an aspect of you. So begin there. What does each person represent in the dream?

Who is vulnerable and in need of protection? Who is in fear? Who is the protector? Where do you feel vulnerable in waking life? Where do you feel protective or powerful in waking life?

Rooms - they too can signify different parts of your own personality particularly if the room is significant in some way. A kitchen, for example, can represent warmth and nurturing...unless the kitchen represents trauma to an individual based upon their upbringing ...so you see there is no one answer.

The circumstances surrounding the dream can be significant. Protection, fear elements... what do you need protection from? or what do you fear? ... in relation to the characters...

Family members are different than strangers. A brother, for example, can represent rivalry or kinship depending upon the relationship...a grandparent can represent our attitude about them or the traditions handed down through them ...

Everything points back to the dreamer. Books can give you a place to start but because our psyches are individual, dream interpretation is very personal.

Something like "1000 Dreams Interpreted" by Pamela Ball can give you lots of places to start to explore but don't expect to find a compete 'bible' about it.

Carl Jung, a swiss analytical psychologist is best known for his exploration of 'inner work'...dreams and archetypes...his work is a great resource for someone truly interested in delving into the symbolism of archetypes ...
