Looking through some pics on various sites, I was reminded of the old "Why don't people post pics of themselves?" complaints.
And it occurred to me that I don't really think about that too much -- I mean, sure, I would like to see the person behind the posting, but it's not life-and-death. If somebody posts a pic that's not of themselves, it's usually there for a reason -- if it's a pic of a cat, then the person probably likes cats. And you know one more little thing about them. A lot of people DO have pics of themselves on their profiles but just don't use those as their main pics. Sometimes you can see the real person just by visiting their profile. I personally like it when people change their pics around because it gives you a better idea of who they are and what appeals to them. Maybe they post a pic of themselves, and later a drawing or a sign or their pet or whatever. It's all a part of them, somehow. Is any one part necessarily more relevant or more valid than another? Hey, I have used pictures of me, but also three plastic tubes, a tape dispenser, various llamas, a paramecium, the Burger King guy, Bob Saget, who knows what all. It's fun and harmless and doesn't promote unprotected sex. There are some pics that annoy me -- pics of more than one person where they never bother to tell you which one the profile belongs to. I figure, if you've made the decision to post a real pic, the least you could do is settle on who you are. I see a lot of women's pics on one site where you can't see her face -- the pic is just from her neck down to her waist -- the obligatory boob shot. I guess they do it because a lot of guys go for that sort of thing. Not me. It always strikes me as a sort of cry for help, a low-self-esteem-driven stab in the dark. Like "this is all I've got, so here it is." No matter how nice the boobs may be, I need to see a light on a little farther up. But people are going to post whatever they think will get them noticed....sometimes I wonder if they ever stop and think about who it is that's ultimately doing the noticing. |

Sug, I had this pic up the other night and two people called me a guy........I didn't realize that there is a culture where they call their sons Eileen.......When I told them to read my name and check my profile they told me my name was just a bunch of letters and numbers.......
 But when I post the picture of the spider....it isn't because I like spiders, I was just afraid of that one and he nearly ended up in my hair because I thought he was fake.....

What do my Pics say about me? I like your pics -- some are a little grim and morbid, and then you bring out the Count! It's a nice mix. I have always imagined you as an introverted type with a repressed sense of humor just dying to get out. The "I like you" posts reveal a sensitive side that you probably have a little trouble dealing with from time to time. But I see a lot of positives in you -- creativity, wit, the ability to care for others. If you have a fault, I think it may be that you're too hard on yourself. But I'm just guessing....! |

It took me awhile to get a pic up, I had just purchased a Pentax Optio SV and was still learning how to use it....!  |
