I did vote for Mr Obama, but the thought crossed my mind at the time of " gosh... what if he gets asassinnated(sic?)... am I a contributer, if so?"
You always hear that "only the good die young" but I can only hope that our nation is (after all) truely good, and that it will prevail over greed & war mongering. Electing a person of color has apparently done wonders to begin to restore the faith of good people in the world who want to believe that we are a sincerely democratic nation. I for one hope and pray that any and all evil intentions against him, his family and his ideals are futile and he's given every chance to do the job he was elected to do. my 2 cents |

All i have to say about those making threats is that their ignorant hill billies. =\ ugh...here we go with the Hillbilly/Redneck crap! Obama is only 1/2 black,so it's not a race issue.the thing is,people say they don't know where he came from (he just let himself be known a few years ago when he announced he was running for president).i do know he is only 1/2 black because he has a great great great grandfather buried in a cemetary just a few miles from where i live,with the last name Bunch.i too have an ancestor with the same first and last name buried in that cemetary and the guy was White. another issue people have with him is he was Muslim and we don't know if he still holds on to any of the Muslim beliefs or not so that's just what i've seen and read about ppl's views on him |

America more than most countries advocates the right of freedom of speech, and it is indeed only the American nation who would elect a Black man as their president because they believe in that fundamental right of that individual, regardless of the colour of his or her skin. America in the year 2008 has rewritten a page in the history books, let's see the UK do the same.
As for making attempts on your president elects life, look back in history, Abraham Lincoln and John F. Kennedy fell at the hands of bigots. It would take another 100 years or more to change the way most racist societies think but it will happen as long as there are those who truly believe in "doing the right thing" Now with that said let's see if the "powers -that-be" in the American Secret Service give Mr Obama the protection he needs to make sure he is safe to carry out his duty in serving those who have elected him. |

The threats against Obama's life are not coming from those in the ........um, shall we say, intelligent/enlightened segment of the US population. I think it's safe to say the world at large realizes this as well.
I do hope our agents are not hard pressed to keep he and his family safe. |
