Topic: hairy and hairless people... | |

My personal believe, and this is only my own personal view. Is that if nature intended for some body part to have hair, well that is nature.
From my perspective I can't judge the hygiene of a person due to the fact that he or she shaves or not. These are norms imposed by society and not by nature. A person's hygiene must be absolutely apart from the fact that this person shaves or not. Now if the person other than not shaving is a dirty person, well that is an issue. Therefore, I believe I should not judge an individual's hygiene just for the fact that they shave or not. |

Well I think Nature is fukced up.....
Why would I require thick black hairs extending inches out of my nostrils.. |
|
|

good point.
then it comes into the picture the fact that each individual has his/her own standards on what is appropriate or not. |

Shaving is a cultural norm, different within each society and its subsects. It is an identifying thing.
I do judge people by that standard, it is a qualifyer... and a valid one at that. |

Not necessarily so, Adj. Because Lincoln fit the accepted cultural norm of the time Now whether she would have voted for him for other reasons is a whole other issue

Not necessarily so, Adj. Because Lincoln fit the accepted cultural norm of the time Now whether she would have voted for him for other reasons is a whole other issue Thank you!!! I iron my hair, a thing was started in the 60's, ended in the 70's, and came back into style recently. With flatirons and not household clothes irons... Hair goes in trends and styles that flow. I'm not going to judge a person from the past by standards of today. Frankly, that was one of the dumbest questions I've heard, at least today. I have a dear friend who wears his hair long and a beard... long. Is he odd? No, he is a yankee liberal academic. I know him.... so I know why. Of course the herringbone tweed blazer gives him away... |
