Any musicians here? If so what do you play?

I play guitar (electric and acoustic), and a little bit of bass. Lately I've been making some electronic music with a program on my computer. There's a link to it in my profile if you want to check it out.

Saying this with luv.

Musicians are all mentally ill...in a good way...haha

I pretend to be one from time to time. I married one. I reproduced and had one.

Somehow I end up dating them too even when I try not to.

No more for me...maybe...

haha

Mentally ill, in a good way? Is it possible? lol.
So you pretend to be a musician? Do you play something?

O.K. Musicians out there defend yourselves! We are different BECAUSE we are (usually) a very creative bunch of people! WE learn the instrument of choice, maybe several of them and that takes a ton of time! We learn to sing vocals, sometimes several harmony or lead parts to EACH song! To do a full set in a club is 40min on stage and 20 off(if you are luck) Each set takes 8 to 10 songs depending on length for solo or group acts;band may play less, but the songs are longer arrangements. The bar gig are usually 4 or 5 sets a night. Do you sit on a break? No! You go talk to the "public" if you want to get and keep your following. You (usually) spend a fortune on stage clothes, sound equipment, lights, hi-tech computer gadgets, several of whatever instruments we play, AND a Van to tote it all in. Then most of us do not have people to fetch and tote, and run sound; WE have to do that too. WE design promotional sites and mail out material, or pay a bunch to have someone else do it. Many of us do not have Managers or accountants;we book the gigs and keep the "books" and do the taxes! THEN, in between we practice for hours and I do mean hours EVERY day. Have you ever written a song? words and music? Try it! It is not easy. You may like it, but in the back of your head you have to think, will it be usable and salable to the public. Yes, I may be "odd" or "crazy", but I work darn hard for the right to be a working musician! Right! Fellow Musicians!!

You tell 'em GuitarLady. I am at an advantage in that I can't sing, or read music for that matter. Just tell me the time sig.
I really like playing the doumbek now because it is small and portable, not like lugging those congas around. In my next life I am going to be a blues harp player and carry all my gear in my pocket. laugh laugh laugh

I don't play anything.

But I am a vocalist in search of a band.

I have a drummer, but ( forgive the pun ) the pickings are pretty slim in my area as far as guitar players.

I am not fluent in any instrument, however, I sing. I will eventually get better at the piano and want to learn the guitar.

My son is already musically-inclined. He is constantly singing. A friend of mine was giving him music lessons, but said that he catches on so fast. (but my son lacks motation often). ohwell

I started playing flute when I was 10.

I picked it up very quickly. I had private lessons and my teacher wanted me to compete because she was certain I was better than most players with twice the instruction time. I could not compete right away because I was too young....i think i had to be 14 before I would qualify to compete.

however...long story short....I still play flute...I can read music. I know enough on the piano to do a few chords...

I picked up the guitar back in 99. I play acustic...

oh yeah..i sing too

married an accomplished musician.

divorced said accomplished musician....

I have been in bands here and there...never took it seriously...just sang for the fun of it.

I dont have time any more for the band scene. Life and kids and work...ugg...no time....no time

oh yeah....i write music too...i need to get some of that stuff copy writted....*sigh*.....would be nice to sit and collect royalty checks for a few tunes of mine that hit the charts.
