I would have to say books in general have touched my life. There are
som many in so many different genres it is impossible to name just one. I started reading before I was een in kindergarten, and was reading shakespeare by 1st grade. Needless to say I have always enjoyed reading. I read classics, fantasy, some western, sci-fi, mysteries, fiction, documentaries, anything really that catches my interest. One book I will never forget (although I find it hard to forget one anyway, lol) is called "a boy called 'it'". It is the truew life story of a man that was severely abused, physically, mentally, emotionally, and sexually as a child. It was the first book I had ever read onthat genre that was fact and not fiction, and it scared the **** outta me (I was about 16 when I read it the first time) andmade me very greatful that even though I did not have a good family upbringing myself, my life had been a hell of a lot better that that. Since reading that book, I have opened my eyes andheart more to the world around me, and try to do what I can to help even if all it is is listen and give advise (one reason I would like to get a degfree in counseling for when I reach retirement age). I consider myself to be very empathic, and understanding, yet Iam also able to step aside and reach past the emotional turmoil and the public belief to analyze, and go with what is right, not what is accepted. |

I know you do Kim, we are all exactly where we are supposed to be, and
know all we are meant to know, and when the time is right, the tools are made available for us to learn anew. One book that I forgot, which of course ironically is my most read book... Women Who Run With The Wolves- Christina Estes Pinkola |

I didn't mean it as a joke, I read Bambi when I was about 8 and I cried
for days. The part about when he lost his mother. |

Interesting topic give me more to think about reading, on top of the 20
or so books I have lined up. I've also read A Boy Named It - love inspirational biographies about regular poeple and the trials they have to overcome. Some books that have actually affected my life were: The Dirary of Anne Frank - was meantioned before Helen Keller - biography Anne Sullivan - biagoraphy (Helen Keller's teacher) Had read these while still in grade school so their affect has been life long. Also The Prophet by Kahlil Gibran and all his collective works including his biography. That was in high school, also life long affect. So many others but these would be reads I would suggest to anyone. Also read A Boy Named It and along those lines Dibbs was a readers digest condensed book |

for anhyone interested, the gentleman that wrote/lived "a boy named it"
did a sequel to it as well. I can not remember the title but it was just as good as the first book. |

Yea, Daniel, I read that one too but the name escapes me. I think it
was his name in the title. Google it. Oh yes, Shakespear, the largest book I ever owned, volume of his works. Must have weighed 5 lbs. Watership Down - read it then had to read again in high school where it's full meaning became clear. Wow great book. |

daniel what is the book about "water ship down"?
|
|
|
|
Watership Down, was a story of a colony of rabbits displaced by
landclearing and farming...a story within a story, and a rather successful movie in the 8o's, with a catchy theme song that was in the charts for some time...( can't for the life of me think of it)...but the whole theme of the book, movie and music, were poignant, and so devastatingly manipulative in the tear-jerker end of the literary world. |
