Topic: Orange water. | |
---|---|
I came home and have a VERY short time to make and eat dinner.
So I was going to make instant mashed potatoes to go with my pork chop. The water in both my sinks was yellow. Went dark orange before I could get clear water again. They turned the water off for 5 hours on SUNDAY due to road construction. I would have thought that any issue with the water being off for a while would have been and gone by now. |

I did do that. I just would like to know why it went orange in the first place. I probably never will.

Rust in the pipes gets disturbed when the water comes back on. It will clear. Orange taters, yuk

More than likely...the city will come and purge certain lines occasionally (Open a near by fire hydrant) the orange is rust and sediment within existing lines that normally sits at the bottom of the pipe...the sudden rush of water from a purge will stir up sediments. The fire department and volunteer fire departments also fill thier water trucks causing this same effect. The department of transportation also has trucks come and use hydrants for water trucks to wet down road/highway construction sites to eliminate dust and help with the compaction of road surfaces.
That would be my guess. I am the operations manager for a bottled water company so I have to constantly monitor city water for its TDY reading. But, I gotta say "EEEEEWWWWWWWW" INSTANT mashed potatoes?!?!?!?!?!?!...Oh HELL NO! |
