I never had any problems with firefox and vista, besides running really slow. My IE doesn't work with a crap, though. Google Chrome is the way to go. NO bugs, VERY fast, extremely reliable. DL it now.

Honestly that Mozilla firefox is not good for your computer........get rid of it my friend did some things to my computer & elimited it!

I totally disagree.

I have been using Firefox for about 4 or 5 years with very little problems, if ever. It is easy as pie to save your favorites (bookmarks) for install to install, or to share them with another computer... just a simple HTML file. IE has about a bah-zillion little link files that are a pain in the butt to save...

Plus, anything that bites a big patch into the Microsoft butt is great!! Wish I knew more about Linux... and Macs are too dang expensive to be practical except for "bragging rights"... plus, no where near the software for a Mac...

So, stuck with Bill Gates until someone re-incents the mouse trap...

And Firefox is my numero-uno...

Maybe offtopic but I installed XPMCE over Vista on my windows machine, and on it, everytime I try to close Internet Explorer, it causes a error that it reports to Microsoft. Needless to say, I use Firefox.

I'd be interested in Chrome from Google, but want to see a Linux version first.

If you want to try Linux go to Ubuntu.com. There's a place where you can request a CD (program is called ShipIt) they will send to you for free, and you can boot off of the cd. It runs off of the cd so you can see if it will work with your hardware without disturbing your windows installation.

Just don't expect any more windows software to work on it than you would on a mac. Ask around, Ubuntu's forums are useful and ubuntuguide.org is invaluable. As long as you don't play a lot of commercial games, there are open source equivalent software for most home computing needs in my experience. I have a Windows computer mostly to play Civ4 and watch NetFlix streaming.

I have tried google chrome, it's a nice browser, but it is lacking some features that I adore on firefox. The bookmark solution on chrome is really lacking, but I expect they will be working on it. Chrome is not recognized on many sites, and they just tell you to use another browser.

I have Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and IE all running with VISTA. Did have some problems with IE until I stopped using the 64 bit version. Of them all I like Firefox the best. In fact just installed the new version.

Fire Fox is the way to go.

I think CHROME is good but am too worried about it's
ties to Google. Have heard it REALLY tracks your surfing.

For the life of me I do not understand the "knock" against Microsoft. They make a great product.

I killed cable a year ago and have gone exclusively with internet content. My box never even burps.

It just works.

You also must have serious virus protection. I use verizon's
internet security suite. Its 4.95 a month and would be a deal
at twice that. It has a firewall that pops up and even shows me the little nasties when they try to get in. There are a lot of nasties trying to get into your computer.
