 All democratic nations have a liberal faction and a conservative faction. It just happens that way naturally.:smile:It almost always evolves into what is essentially a two party system.

....that there is an awful lot of venom being spewed around here...but no one seems to have any real ideas on how things can be made better????

It's pretty typical of things here in this country.

" Let's all sit around and b*tch about everything being screwed up, but let's not actually come up with an idea. We'll leave that to the government, since they do such a fabulous job of everything. Then when they screw it up, we can b*tch about that too. "
I used to go to an anti-bush chatroom....all I heard was all the bad stuff bush was doing but no one had any solutions. Finally I got fed up.....even though I hated bush, I called them on it!!! I said......"Has any of you gone to any anti war rallies??? done any legwork for you country???? I called their little room a B*TCH FEST FOR THE BORING!!! Hmmmmmm I was kicked ALOT from that room......but I always found a back door!!! After awhile I just kept singing " I got you Babe" by sonny and cher.....and the 80% went to MY room where we actually did stuff to try to stop the war. Little good that it did.......but at least we tried!!drinker

Solutions oriented. I like it.drinker

But that doesn't mean that is the way it HAS to be, Mirror.

 Well, it kinda does, considering that their are no democracies without a conservative and a liberal faction.:smile:If you have one without the other you dont have a democracy.:smile:There really arn't any other democratic political philosophies besides conservative/liberal. Yeah, you can start a 3rd party but it would inevitably become either conservative or liberal oriented.

Thats the thing.......I never did like the labels people put on others. Liberal, socialist, democrat!!!!

I believe in individualism and why do we have to put people into a little box???? Is it easier for others to call us names????

Do you think it could possibly be because McCain lost? Just an idea.

Respectfully--that is a cheap-shot comment/question, Winx. I have been a member of this site for a while now and I have heard and seen a ton of bitterness shown to GWB and to those who follow him. I've seen an anti-Semitic overlay with half of GWB's face imposed on the other half of Hitler's face. Oddly, no one found that (posted by Madison) as a massive insult to Jews, some of whom survived Hitler's regime and who would be more than happy to share with anyone who cared to listen the many differences between Auschwitz and America. I've always tried to respond without emotion and with logical arguments but to suggest that McCain's loss is the introduction of venomous replies is just not intellectually honest--in the least.

It is not a cheap shot. It's an honest suggestion because it pertains to what I'm seeing in real life.

The second post showed my child's situation. The day after the election, the students at my child's school were doing major Obama bashing. I have seen it on here, too, with people talking bad about things Obama could do and he hasn't even done it yet because he's not President. I honestly thought that it would calm down after the election.

You are talking about one member's photo.
