Topic: Man Duties | |

I've figured out how to do most everything around my house on my own. However.....this THING that is pecking in between my drop ceiling and the floor above is driving me insane! I can't decide if it's a bat left over from this summer (yes, I had bats...found where they are getting in) or a mouse.......or some other annoying small critter. All I keep thinking is it is gonna come out tonight when everyone is asleep and EAT US!!!
Where's a darn man when you need him? |

Put some kind of bait (D-con or something) above one of the panels close to where you're hearing the noise coming from.

you can avoid being eaten by covering yourself in cheese.

Or some of that Great Stuff (that expanding spray foam sh!t). That'll seal it for good. |

Yes, expanding foam stuff....that's what I'm using on the exterior of the house. I was just waiting to make sure all Bats were gone before I sealed it up. Usually when a bat is there (it's the same spot btw) I can tell because it makes noises and then flies to the other side of the room and make more noises. This time, it's peck peck peck all in the same spot!

You have to look pretty much EVERYWHERE all over the exterior of your house for any places they may be able to gain entrance. Bats can fit into a hole the size of a dime or smaller, and they like to hide in shady places behind siding.
I'm assuming you live somewhere near water? |

Not really......but we seem to have a big bat population in my little town. Lots of old houses (mine was built in something like 1895) and big old churches around.
I found the guano trail outside to a place around the chimney. I know I will have to look elsewhere too. Thanks for reminding me just how small a hole it takes....hehe. |

Tennis rackets work good I know! I carry one around in the summer looking like I'm ready. When it comes down to it, I run in the bathroom and hide and call someone. I'm not sure I have a bat right now, but I do have something pecking away up there. Makes me want to just move..critters belong OUTSIDE! |

Do mice even make a pecking sound? If you hypnotize them into thinking they're chickens, yes. |

Do mice even make a pecking sound? If you hypnotize them into thinking they're chickens, yes. If it's a mouse, I can deal with it. It's the IF that's bothering me. I'm hoping I'm not the only 'fraidy cat woman here that has a fear of these things. Some things should just be left to a man to deal with..... |
