I wouldn't mind it. If they have an awesome personality, that's all that really matters. The other stuff is just a shell, not who they really are in the inside. flowerforyou

nothing wrong with being in a wheelchair. I've seen a few marriages where one was in a wheelchair...

I'd have a lot of questions, but it certainly wouldn't be a deal breaker.

I would date the person.

A wheelchair is like having a Harley chopper. I don't have a Harley, but that's not a roadblock to good times.

I would do it. A wheelchair wouldn't make a difference in matters of the heart.

ditto, it is what is on the inside that counts.

For me dateing someone in a wheel chair has a lot to do with how they feel about the wheelchair. To me it is more or less a piece of equipment/tool that they may need for getting around physically. Not a lot more. If they have a lot of hangups about it I am not going to be real sympathetic. Probably because I have the privilege of knowing a very large number of people who use wheelchairs; includeing myself for a very long time; and they are a mixed bag of personalities as any other group.

I think you have to be considerate about the use of your chair and the limitations it presents in some instances. I am not always going to boycott everyone and everyplace that is not accessible even though it usually is a factor where I will go and if I have a choice I will opt for the accessible every time. I think more people should be smarter about accessibility because it doesn't just make life easier for people who currently use wheelchairs it helps a lot of people. Sure lets a lot of people who want to particiapate fully in life, and get off the dole, able to do it. Not everyone is wonder-crip but most can do so much more when access is not and issue.

I will not tolerate being an unpaid aid and attendant even though I can and do often assist people who use chairs. Also if I go out with someone and they are constantly overcompensateing for the chair by paying for the meal or whatever I usually loose interest pretty fast. My friendship is not for sale. And I am not always picking up the tab because you live on a fixed income that is not really adequate. I do resent having to run to keep up with someone who strides down the street in a chair or assualts me with it like a kick in the shins or mowing down my furnishings. I catch some guy trying to look down my blouse, up my skirt, or cop a feel I will smack him as fast or faster than the guy on two feet under him. If I respect you; You have to respect me. I don't do pity sex for anybody.

Being straight I can't really say how the whole attraction thing goes for females except the fact that it didn't seem to hold that many people back from me. If anything I probably attracted more attention because I made more of an effort to look good and play up my feminine qualites and smarts. I felt that I was often the only person many people saw in a chair and I had an obligation to not make it any tougher on the people who would be following my trail than I had to. Thankfully things have gotten a lot better than they used to be. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out which people who are just looking for their token experience or to satisfy some stupid notion that people who use wheelchairs are desperate for sex. Or that some do have some entitlements that can be mooched off of.

As far as guys I have seen some incredibly desireable guys. One of my very best experiences with a lover was a person who also used a chair. Just thinking about him makes me flush. lol He knew how his body worked and paid attention to mine and all the attending feelings and in my book that is what makes a great lover. That most of the disabled men I knew were serious about not complicateing their lives risking infection or injury frankly made them a safer bet than some of the bozos out there that still think they are invincable. I don't know that is universally true because I have also seen some that says well I am a cat with nine lives.

While it depends on the guy many are also good providers. They don't job hop and usually see the value of an education and common sense to solve problems. Some have state jobs and highly technical jobs that pay well but in todays economy they are worried like everyone else. Economiclly they aren't always getting a fair shake but they usually figure out not only how to survive but to manage. Many run their own businesses which I find very appealing.

I don't want a person because they have or don't have to use a chair. It isn't a magical wand that makes someone careing, or easy to get along with, or likely to stick around. But I know from experience that it doesn't keep them from being contributeing members in society, great friends, good employees, great lovers, and wonderful parents when they want to be. I would gladly treasure a good person who uses a chair over being alone and for that matter a lot of the folks I have met that don't use a chair.

Well most people are answering in the positive, so either people are lying to appear nice or the ones that wouldnt just arent posting.

I wouldnt completely rule it out, but i think it is unlikely i would allow myself to get that close to someone in a chair. If my girlfriend had an accident it would be different because i already love her.

Sometimes you don't have a choice in who you love . . . so I guess it wouldn't matter.

I've met some cool chicks on here who were challenged. Wouldn't stop me, I would hope.
